Is otitis media easy to cure in children?

The causes of otitis media in children are relatively simple, most of which are caused by colds, getting angry, improper use of antibiotics, etc. And timely treatment in the early stages of the disease also plays a key role. As with any disease, it is easiest to eradicate it if you treat it in its early stages. Below, the editor has made the following analysis on the question of whether otitis media in children is easy to cure.

Otitis media in children is often caused by colds, and complications such as otitis media are often caused by irrational use of antibiotics. Treatment is relatively easy. The following points should be noted when using antibiotics: 1. Correctly choose antibiotics: select sensitive antibiotics according to the condition of the disease; 2. Use antibiotics regularly: take the medicine regularly, do not miss doses or reduce the dosage, and take the medicine on time and in the prescribed dosage; 3. Use antibiotics for a sufficient course of treatment: antibiotics should be used for at least 3-5 days, generally not more than 10 days.

Causes

Acute otitis media is caused by common colds in children. Long-term rhinitis, sinusitis and adenoids hypertrophy are also common causes of acute otitis media. The vast majority of children's secretory otitis media is caused by long-term rhinitis, sinusitis and adenoids hypertrophy. Chronic otitis media often occurs secondary to acute otitis media. Trauma to the external ear and tympanic membrane can also cause chronic otitis media. Bacteria entering the middle ear through the tympanic membrane ventilation tube after tympanic tube placement can also cause chronic otitis media.

Pathogenesis

The cause of most otitis media in children is Eustachian tube dysfunction. One end of the Eustachian tube opens on the side of the nasopharynx behind the nasal cavity, and the other opening is located in the middle ear cavity. Under normal circumstances, the opening of the Eustachian tube maintains the normal pressure of otitis media. At the same time, the cilia movement of the Eustachian tube expels fluid and bacteria from the middle ear cavity. When the nasal cavity and nasopharynx are diseased, the opening of the Eustachian tube is compressed and loses its normal physiological function, causing various types of otitis media. Children's Eustachian tubes are shorter and flatter than those of adults. The Eustachian tube muscles cannot contract easily, the cartilage has poor elasticity, and the walls of the cartilaginous sections of the Eustachian tubes collapse easily. Therefore, the incidence rate is higher than that of adults, and children with cleft palate are more susceptible to otitis media.
