How to treat sinusitis in children

Sinusitis is a very common disease in daily life. It can cause great harm to people's bodies, especially children, who are more susceptible to diseases due to their low resistance. Therefore, it is particularly important to find a scientific and effective treatment method. First, vasoconstrictors can be used intranasally. If the condition is severe, septum correction surgery, inferior nasal meatus fenestration surgery, or nasal polypectomy can be chosen, which will have significant effects.

1. Sinusitis in children

The symptoms of sinusitis in children are basically the same as those in adults, and there are also two types of sinusitis: acute sinusitis and chronic sinusitis. However, sinusitis in children is more serious than that in adults and is more difficult to treat. When you suffer from sinusitis, the amount of nasal mucus will increase significantly, and you will also have symptoms such as nasal congestion, loss of sense of smell, and sometimes headaches. There are multiple methods that can be used simultaneously to treat sinusitis in children.

2. Treatment Method Recommendations

Vasoconstrictors can be used intranasally, and antiallergic drugs can be used systemically in children with allergic reactions. Children under the age of six can use negative pressure replacement therapy. Children with enlarged palatine tonsils caused by chronic sinusitis should have their tonsils and adenoids removed as soon as possible.

For children with sinusitis that cannot be cured after long-term treatment, septum correction, inferior nasal meatus endonasal window surgery or nasal polypectomy can be considered. Children with sinusitis should pay attention to improving their resistance, strengthen their exercise, change their picky eating habits, and eat more vegetables. You should also pay attention to dressing appropriately and not wearing too much or too little.

In short, the incidence of sinusitis in children is higher than that in adults, and if infected, it will invade adjacent tissues and aggravate the condition. Therefore, parents must pay enough attention.

3. The dietary therapy for sinusitis is as follows:

1. Mung bean and cassia seed soup: 50 grams of mung beans, 10 grams of cassia seeds, and an appropriate amount of brown sugar. Wash both, put them into the pot together, add an appropriate amount of clean water and cook until the mung beans are well cooked, then add brown sugar to taste.

2. Three-flower tea: 1 gardenia, 10 grams each of honeysuckle and wild chrysanthemum, 5 grams of tea leaves. Select the four ingredients cleanly, put them in a teacup, pour in appropriate amount of boiling water, soak for 10 to 20 minutes and drink. One dose per day.

3. Lotus Leaf and Two Flowers Porridge: 1 fresh lotus leaf, 1 lotus flower, 5 lentil flowers, 100 grams of rice. Wash and chop the fresh lotus leaf, cook the rice into porridge, add the lotus leaf and two flowers after it is cooked, boil it for one or two more times and take it, 2 doses a day.

4. Magnolia and Perilla Leaf Porridge: 10 grams each of magnolia flower and perilla leaf, 100 grams of rice. Clean the magnolia flower and perilla leaf, put them in a pot, add appropriate amount of water, soak for 5 to 10 minutes, decoct in water to extract the juice, add rice and cook into thin porridge. Or wash the fresh perilla leaves, chop them into small pieces, add them into the porridge when it is cooked, and boil them for one or two more times. Take 1 to 2 doses daily.

5. Scallion, ginger and fermented black beans soup: 3 sections of scallion (including roots), 3 slices of ginger, 15 grams of fermented black beans, and appropriate seasoning. Wash and chop the scallion and ginger, put them in a pot, add cooking oil, salt and fermented black beans, stir-fry, then add appropriate amount of water to boil the soup. Season and serve after it is cooked. One dose per day.
