How to care for baby's buttocks

The baby's butt is naturally delicate, with a thin stratum corneum and lower defense function than that of an adult. Whether using diapers or traditional diapers, the stimulation of urine can easily cause allergies, such as red buttocks and diaper rash. Therefore, the first point in caring for the baby's buttocks is to change diapers frequently, wash and change them frequently, and avoid the buttocks being soaked in urine for a long time.

When changing diapers, first clean the skin of the buttocks. Both male and female babies should pay attention to the cleanliness of the private parts; then wipe the buttocks dry and keep it dry, and then apply baby-specific diaper cream to isolate the skin and urine; finally, change into a clean diaper or diaper pants.

1. Unfasten : Let the baby lie flat on the bed and unfasten the diaper. Boys often start to urinate at this time, so after unfastening the diaper, keep the front half of the diaper on the penis for a few seconds and wait for him to finish peeing. Use the diaper's absorbent nature to hold urine and prevent it from wetting and contaminating the mattress.

2. Wipe : The mother stands on the right side of the baby's body, first grabs his two ankles with her left hand and pulls them up, and clamps one finger between the baby's ankles to prevent the baby from feeling pain or discomfort due to squeezing his legs too tightly.

The mother then uses her right hand to turn over the diaper, wipes off the remaining feces around the anus with the relatively clean inside of the diaper, folds the front and back pieces of the diaper, and temporarily places it under the baby's butt. Then, put the baby's feet down and wipe the butt with special wet wipes or a clean warm and wet towel.

3. Cleaning : First scrub your lower abdomen until the navel. Then clean the skin folds at the base of the thighs and external genitalia, wiping from the inside out. Use a clean wipe to clean all over your baby's testicles, including under the penis, where there may be urine or stool stains. When cleaning the penis, wipe away from the baby's body and do not push the foreskin upward.

There is no need to deliberately clean the foreskin of a boy before he is six months old, because the foreskin will not be completely grown together with the penis until around four years old. Turning over the tender foreskin too early will hurt the baby's genitals. When cleaning under the testicles, you use your fingers to gently support the testicles upward. After washing the front, lift the baby's legs and clean the anus and the back of the buttocks.

1. Untie : Untie the diaper, wipe off the remaining feces around the anus, and wipe all parts of the lower abdomen until the navel with wet tissues or a clean warm and wet towel.

2. Wipe : Use a clean wet wipe to wipe all the skin folds at the base of the baby's thighs, from top to bottom and from inside to outside.

3. Cleaning : Lift your baby's legs and place one of your fingers between her ankles. Next, clean the vulva, taking care to scrub from front to back to prevent bacteria in the anus from entering the vagina and urethra. Use clean wet tissue to clean the anus, then the buttocks and thighs, and wash inward to the anus.

4. Care : The mother should dry her hands and wipe the baby's butt dry with a tissue. If your baby has diaper rash, you can let her play with her bare bottom for a while to dry it out, and apply diaper rash cream around the vulva, labia, anus, buttocks, etc.

Warm reminder: It is generally not recommended to use talcum powder for baby girls. The female pelvic cavity is connected to the outside world. Dust and particles in the external environment can enter the abdominal cavity through the vulva, vagina, cervix, uterine cavity, and open fallopian tubes, and attach to the surface of the ovaries, which will stimulate the proliferation of ovarian epithelial cells and induce ovarian cancer.
