A good way to eliminate phlegm in children

Children's physical fitness is relatively poor compared to adults. The environment that we adults can adapt to may be uncomfortable for children. They are susceptible to viral infections. It is a common phenomenon for children to have colds, coughs and phlegm. Phlegm in a child's throat can affect his or her diet and sleep, and the child may suffer from anorexia and cry and refuse to sleep. In this situation, it is particularly important to eliminate the phlegm in the child. Here are some good ways to eliminate phlegm in children.

General diet therapy for removing phlegm:

1/6 The first thing that comes to my mind is monk fruit. I don’t know if it is available in the north, but my hometown, Guilin, Guangxi, is a place where monk fruit is produced in abundance. The monk fruit we have seems to be mainly sold to Taiwan. It has the effects of removing phlegm and relieving cough, clearing the lungs and relieving fever. It can usually be used to make tea. Boil a pot of water, then throw some monk fruit in and cook for a few minutes. We use this to serve to guests during the Chinese New Year.

2/6 Snow pear. Snow pear is grown in abundance in the north. It is also a good thing for eliminating phlegm. My classmate taught me this when I was in college in the north. Cooking snow pear and eating it has a very good effect.

3/6 Tremella, seems to be a specialty of Northeast China. Tremella soup also has the effect of resolving phlegm, relieving cough and removing heat. The methods are also very simple and easy to implement.

4/6 Persimmon, this seems to be available all over the country, you can eat it directly to eliminate phlegm and relieve cough.

5/6 Water chestnuts, this is also a specialty of Guilin. It seems to be rare in other places. I remember when I brought it to the north for my classmates to eat, they didn't know what it was. . . . Peel the water chestnuts and boil them in water. You can add other ingredients and it will taste good. Children will probably like it too.

6/6 I really like bitter melon, fried bitter melon with pork slices, and fried bitter melon with eggs. They can also relieve heat and reduce phlegm. It depends on personal preference. Not everyone likes bitter melon, but it is indeed a good thing, haha.

Precautions

Pay attention to your diet, eat light food, and eat less irritating foods such as chili peppers, garlic, etc.

Massage to remove phlegm:

1. Push eight channels

Also known as the Eight Channels of the Chest, it has the effects of relieving cough and reducing phlegm, relieving adverse reactions and relieving asthma. It can be used for various coughs, chest tightness and chest pain. It can be operated for more than three to five minutes at a time.

Operation method: Starting from the first intercostal space, use your two thumbs to push from the sternum to the intercostal spaces on both sides, and then push from the middle to both sides until you reach the fourth intercostal space, a total of eight spaces on the left and right. The hands should be close to the ground, and the technique should be steady and not messy. The effect will be better if you rub the Tanzhong point.

2. Push the shoulder blades apart

Suitable for all types of coughs, regardless of cold or heat, especially when the cough has just started, the cough relief effect is better! The number of times of operation should be at least 300~600 times each time.

Operation method: Use the tips of your thumbs to push downward from the Feishu point along the posterior edge of the scapula, and push from top to bottom along the suture of the scapula like a crescent moon.

3. Use the Eight Diagrams

Pay special attention: for cold cough, follow the eight trigrams, and for hot cough, follow the eight trigrams. It can be operated for more than 10 minutes at a time.

It can expand the chest and regulate qi, strengthen the spleen and aid digestion, and transform phlegm and dampness. Therefore, it is suitable for relieving cough and reducing phlegm in respiratory diseases, and is effective for cough, phlegm and asthma.

How to do it:

The key is to use the Laogong point in the palm of your hand as the center of the circle, and use the front end of your thumb to draw a circle that is neither too big nor too small, with the radius being the intersection of the inner 2/3 and outer 1/3 of the horizontal line from the center of the circle to the middle finger root. The Bagua point is on this circle.

4. Push four horizontal lines

Rubbing the four horizontal lines back and forth can increase the power of Qi circulation and help cough out phlegm. Massage for more than 10 minutes each time.

This acupoint can clear away heat and disperse stagnation. We often use it in clinical practice to treat phlegm because of the heat. The phlegm can be treated by making crackling sounds. There are also swollen tonsils and hypertrophic adenoids, and nasal sinusitis is what we call sinusitis in Western medicine. The four horizontal lines are very effective in treating these diseases.

Operation method: Located on the side edge of our palm, from the center of the horizontal lines where the roots of the second to fifth fingers meet the palm, use our thumb to massage these four horizontal lines back and forth.

5. Rub the small horizontal lines on your palms

It is an important acupoint for resolving phlegm and is particularly suitable for coughs caused by excessive phlegm. Knead for more than 10 minutes at a time.

Spleen deficiency produces dampness, and dampness accumulates and turns into phlegm. What we mean is that there is a lot of phlegm, but the phlegm is the kind that makes a gurgling sound. Then it can be easily coughed out by pressing and rubbing this acupoint.

Rubbing the small horizontal lines on the palms combined with rubbing the two Ma points can enhance the effects of treating cough and asthma, pneumonia, tracheitis, bronchitis and other symptoms.

Operation method: Use the tip of my thumb to massage below the base of the little finger and slightly above the love line on the palm.
