What to do if you find your child masturbating

What to do if you find your child masturbating

Masturbation is a normal behavior in children's growth and development. When parents find that their children are masturbating, they must pay attention to it and correct the children in a timely manner using the correct method. Some simple and rough yelling will not only fail to solve the problem, but will also make the situation worse. Therefore, parents need to control their emotions and solve the problem in some way, otherwise things will just continue to develop.

1. Don’t punish or scold your children

Some parents often use intimidation and punishment to stop their children from masturbating, but the punishment is ineffective. Instead, it can easily cause anxiety and panic in children, and form cowardly, sensitive, inferior or withdrawn personalities. This makes it more likely that children will seek comfort from masturbation and masturbate more frequently. Therefore, when parents discover that their children have the habit of masturbation, it is best not to point it out to them. Instead, they should find ways to divert the child's attention, such as giving him new toys to play with, telling him interesting stories, or playing games with him, etc. This way, the child will not have the opportunity to masturbate, and will gradually correct this bad habit in tense and interesting activities.

2. Encourage children to participate in outdoor activities

Let children participate in more colorful outdoor activities and physical exercises, cultivate their broad interests and hobbies, and let them devote their energy to positive activities. Children are most likely to masturbate when they are alone. Let them play with their peers and participate in group games more often. During the games, individual behavior will be constrained by the group. Children will not pay attention to their reproductive organs and will forget about masturbation.

3. Pay attention to cultivating children's sexual hygiene habits

Whether it is a boy or a girl, you should clean your external genitalia before going to bed every night to keep it clean to prevent the occurrence of diseases. If the child is found to have abnormal reactions, timely treatment should be given. For example, if the child often scratches the perineum and anus, you should consider whether the child has pinworms. After the child falls asleep, you can use a flashlight to shine around the anus. If small white thread-like pinworms are found, timely measures should be taken to deworm. If the child's vulva is found to be red or the inside of the phimosis is red, you can use potassium permanganate solution to soak and wash the child.
