What should I do if my child has a stuffy nose and sneezes? Parents should keep these tips in mind

When a child has symptoms of nasal congestion and sneezing, parents should look for the cause based on the baby's situation. At the same time, they should understand some care methods, such as letting the baby drink more water, keeping warm, and maintaining hygiene of the skin and living environment, etc.

1. When the baby has a stuffy nose, the mother should use a clean towel or gauze, dip it in boiling water, wring it out, and then wrap it in layers. Be careful not to scald the baby. Then put the wrapped cloth ball at the root of the baby's nose (a little below the eyebrows) for hot compress. The hot compress time must be long; you can change the boiling water every time you apply it, and do it several times. This can stimulate the baby's nose, reduce the baby's sneezing, relieve the baby's nasal congestion, and make the baby breathe smoothly.

2. Boil ginger and garlic slices in boiling water every night, then add some salt and vinegar to the water. When it reaches a certain temperature, you can soak your baby's feet. When the water gets cold, add more water until the baby's feet are hot and red. Then put on clean socks for the baby, keep warm to sleep, and the baby will sneeze less after getting up.

3. Do not dress your baby too many clothes or too few clothes to avoid cold; the indoor air should be fresh, and the quilts should not be too thick or too many; keep the baby's skin clean and hygienic, and give the child plenty of boiled water and breast milk to facilitate sweating and urination, and promote the excretion of toxins.

4. It should be a cold. You can take some taurine granules in the early stages of a cold. They can be bought at pharmacies as an over-the-counter drug. At the same time, supplement with large amounts of vitamin C. You can take cold medicine but it can only relieve cold symptoms and cannot cure the cold. If you have a lot of runny nose or a little fever, you can take some anti-inflammatory drugs, but it is best to take less anti-inflammatory drugs. A cold usually heals itself in a week. If symptoms get worse, go to the hospital.

5. Consider that the baby’s condition is caused by upper respiratory tract infection. Generally, runny nose and sneezing may be symptoms of viral infection. The treatment is not specific and mainly focuses on symptomatic treatment and prevention of complications. It is recommended to continue taking pediatric acetaminophen granules. If the throat is a little red, you can add anti-inflammatory drugs such as cephalosporin or amoxicillin to prevent infection. Feed more water, avoid spicy, raw and cold food, and keep warm.
