Baby cries after receiving polio vaccine

Baby cries after receiving polio vaccine

It will be very painful for the baby when getting the vaccine, especially the wound will be uncomfortable after the injection, with symptoms of itching and pain, so the child will cry at this time. There are also some adverse reactions, such as fever, dizziness, headache, diarrhea and occasional rash. These side effects will disappear on their own in about 2 to 3 days. In very rare cases, more serious symptoms may occur. Parents need to have a correct understanding and understanding of this.

Adverse Reactions

Fever, headache, diarrhea, and occasional rash may occur, which will heal on their own after 2 to 3 days. A very rare serious adverse reaction is vaccine-related paralysis.

Vaccine storage and transportation

OPV is heat sensitive and should be stored and transported under low temperature conditions. The shelf life is 2 years below -20°C and 1 year at 2-8°C (the vaccine packaging label can only specify one storage temperature and shelf life).

Precautions

The polio vaccine has a good immune effect.

(i) The earliest vaccine used for active immunization was the inactivated polio vaccine (Salk vaccine), which is effective in protecting susceptible people after intramuscular injection, and because it does not contain live vaccines, it is also very safe for immunocompromised people. Some countries have achieved remarkable results in controlling and almost eliminating polio by using inactivated vaccines alone. However, the immunity induced by inactivated vaccines is short-lived, requires repeated injections, does not induce local immunity, and is expensive to prepare. However, the preparation has been improved in recent years. Three vaccinations at the 2nd month, 4th month, and 12th to 18th month can make 99% of the vaccine recipients produce three types of antibodies, which will last for at least 5 years.

Attenuated live vaccines (Sabin vaccine, Oral polio-virus vaccine, OPV) are currently widely used. This live vaccine virus has been passaged many times in tissue culture and has no or very little toxicity to the human nervous system. After oral administration, it can reproduce in the intestinal tissue of susceptible people, causing the body's same type of neutralizing antibodies to grow rapidly. At the same time, because it can produce secretory IgA, the immunity of the intestines and pharynx is also enhanced, which can eliminate invading wild strains and cut off their spread among the population. In addition, the live vaccine virus can be excreted from the body and infect contacts so that they can gain indirect immunity, so its immune effect is better. Three types of sugar pill vaccines have been produced. They can be stored at 2~10℃ for 5 months, 20℃ for 10 days, and 30℃ for only 2 days, so they should still be refrigerated (4~8℃).
