What are the symptoms of high muscle tone in children?

The symptoms caused by high muscle tone mainly include movement restrictions, most of which will cause muscle stiffness. For children, once they suffer from high muscle tone, they should be treated as soon as possible to reduce the impact in the future. The symptoms are introduced below.

1. Babies with high muscle tone are often more irritable, startled by sounds, cry continuously, have trouble falling asleep, have difficulty inserting their arms into sleeves when dressing, have difficulty opening their fists when bathing, and their entire bodies immediately become stiff when their lower limbs enter the bathtub or the water. Babies with high muscle tone have their lower limbs straightened, adducted and crossed in a scissor shape.

2. There is no objective instrument to measure whether the muscle tone is too high. It depends entirely on the doctor's feel and experience. Sometimes the baby's lack of cooperation may be misjudged as a manifestation of high muscle tone. For example, during the examination, the baby is unwilling and his legs are stretched straight.

3. In addition to the above symptoms, babies with high muscle tone have tighter muscles than those of ordinary children and are more difficult to move, which is also a manifestation of high muscle tone in babies. When changing diapers, most children's legs should be able to open to 120 degrees, but children with high muscle tone cannot open their legs.

If your child has similar high muscle tone after birth, be sure to take the child to the hospital for examination and provide appropriate treatment according to the different causes of the disease. Do not let abnormal muscle tone affect your child's life.
