The harm of excessive blood lead affects the normal development of children

Nowadays, many children have excessive lead levels, which is worth our reflection. This is due to the existence of many risk factors in daily life. Once the lead level exceeds the standard, it will affect the normal development of children and cause symptoms such as nausea, loss of appetite, and abdominal discomfort.

1. The metabolic half-life of lead in the human body is 1460 days. The long-term accumulation of lead that enters the human body every day can cause chronic lead poisoning. People will experience symptoms of neurasthenia such as fatigue, lack of energy, inattention, headache, dizziness, insomnia and nightmares, as well as mild excitement, irritability, anxiety, hysterical attacks and other mental or emotional changes. There may also be gastrointestinal symptoms, such as loss of appetite, nausea, abdominal discomfort, etc. In addition, men may have decreased libido and impotence, and women may have menstrual disorders. It can also cause cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and chronic respiratory diseases in middle-aged and elderly people.

2. Medical experts point out that the lead ingested by children is not mainly accumulated in the bones like that of adults, but enters the body tissues. Therefore, excessive lead is more harmful to children. Because children's blood-brain barrier is not yet fully developed, lead can more easily pass through the blood-brain barrier and cause permanent damage to brain development.

3. Most experts are accustomed to calling the "lead" that invades the human body "lead poisoning". We believe that calling the "lead" that invades the human body "toxic dirt" is more vivid and easier to explain the problem. Like the scale in a teapot, lead is a kind of "toxic scale" that cannot be decomposed by itself. A small amount of lead deposited in the brain will block the child's brain development and affect learning. If a child who used to be very good has trouble concentrating, has memory loss, has reduced reading comprehension ability, and his academic performance is getting worse day by day... then we must pay attention. We often say, "My brain doesn't work, it feels like it's filled with lead," or "I can't lift my legs, it feels like it's filled with lead," and this is actually the case. You see, workers engaged in lead handling are exposed to too much lead. First, they will have symptoms of "lead in the brain" - such as lack of concentration, memory loss, insomnia, dizziness, neurasthenia, fatigue, etc., and then they will have symptoms of "lead in the limbs" - inability to lift their legs or hands, and then they will have abdominal cramps, anemia, paralysis, convulsions, twitching, coma and other manifestations of multiple organ damage. For children, the problem is even more serious. International studies have shown that if this "toxic dirt" cannot be eliminated from the body in time, the child's brain will suffer long-term damage; when the lead content in the blood exceeds the standard for the first time, the child's IQ will drop by 11.7 points; if the lead continues to accumulate, the child's IQ will further drop. Therefore, we parents and friends must pay attention to children’s inattention, memory loss, hyperactivity and other phenomena.
