What are the symptoms of acute appendicitis in children?

There are many causes of acute appendicitis in children, which have not been clearly identified at present. The main causes include bacterial infection, blood flow disorders, nerve reflexes and other factors. The following are some of its symptoms.

1. Abdominal pain - The main clinical manifestations and signs of acute appendicitis in children in the early stage are acute abdominal pain accompanied by nausea and vomiting. The abdominal pain initially occurs around the navel and upper abdomen, and then moves to the right lower abdomen. On physical examination, fixed tenderness was present in the right lower abdomen.

2. Fever - Children with acute appendicitis will initially present with low fever. After 6 to 8 hours of abdominal pain, the body temperature will be around 37.5 to 38 degrees Celsius. After that, the body temperature may gradually rise to 38 to 39 degrees Celsius as the disease progresses. If the appendix is perforated and complicated by peritonitis, symptoms such as persistent high fever and lack of energy may occur. Infants with acute appendicitis will initially show symptoms of crying, irritability, frequent vomiting and high fever.

3. Other symptoms - When peritonitis occurs, the child's abdominal muscles are tense and tender, and the child refuses others to press on the right lower abdomen and the entire abdomen, sometimes accompanied by diarrhea; the child likes to lie on his side, and cannot straighten his waist when walking, but bends to the right; obstructive appendicitis causes intermittent severe abdominal pain due to spasm of the appendix.
