What causes retinal hemorrhage in children?

What causes retinal hemorrhage in children?

Retinal hemorrhage in children is generally not caused by excessive fatigue, so the question of what causes retinal hemorrhage in children should not be confused with the causes of retinal hemorrhage in adults. Children's retinal hemorrhage may also be caused by excessive rubbing of the eyes.

1. Capillary disease

The most common cause of retinal hemorrhage is capillary disease, especially venous bleeding. Damage to the inner membrane of capillaries increases its permeability and allows blood to leak out. The arteries that cause retinal hemorrhage are mainly caused by vascular embolism, atherosclerosis, etc.

2. Rubbing your eyes

Retinal hemorrhage in children may be caused by excessive rubbing of the eyes and frequent crying, which is the same as congestion in other parts of the body. If the conjunctiva is still transparent and the amount of bleeding has not increased, you can observe it first, but if the amount of bleeding is still increasing, treatment is required.

3. Other reasons

There are many causes of retinal hemorrhage. Retinal diseases caused by kidney disease, diabetes, hypertension, eye trauma, etc. may all cause retinal hemorrhage. Retinal diseases caused by mechanical obstruction such as thrombosis and systemic vascular disease may cause retinal hemorrhage.

4. Notes:

The cause of retinal hemorrhage is very complex, and it is easy to recur. It will seriously affect our vision and may cause many complications. If not effectively treated, it may even lead to blindness. After the occurrence of fundus hemorrhage, you should first rest in bed, avoid activities and mental stress, and control blood pressure, blood sugar, etc. Autoimmune diseases can cause fundus hemorrhage. Local lesions refer to lesions of the fundus itself.
