Children's stomach pain is mainly due to it

Children's resistance is relatively poor. For example, they often have some uncomfortable symptoms, but they can't say it, so they always solve the problem by crying. It is quite common for children to have stomachache. For this kind of stomachache, people need to understand the cause and then treat it, which is relatively simple.

1. Intestinal spasms

This is a common type of abdominal pain in children, caused by strong contraction of the intestinal wall muscles due to reasons such as cold, overeating, drinking a lot of cold drinks, and overfeeding in infants. Since it is a functional disorder, the prognosis is good and most cases can heal themselves without treatment. The predilection sites of intestinal spasm are different at different ages. In infants, the disease is more common in the terminal ileum; in young children, it often occurs in the pylorus, duodenum and upper jejunum; and in school-age children, the highest incidence is in the sigmoid colon.

Children cannot describe their abdominal pain, but only experience sudden paroxysmal crying and sometimes wake up from sleep crying. Each attack lasts from a few minutes to more than ten minutes, and the pain comes and goes. The degree of abdominal pain varies. Severe cases may be accompanied by restless limb movement, rolling, pale complexion, and cold hands and feet. Preschool children can complain of abdominal pain, which is mostly located around the navel and is paroxysmal, with no discomfort during the intervals. The abdominal pain in school-age children may be mild or severe, but their general condition is generally good. As they grow older, the abdominal pain in most children will ease or disappear.

2. Mesenteric lymphadenitis

It often occurs when a cold occurs. In addition to fever, sore throat and runny nose, the child also has pain around the navel and no lumps can be felt in the abdomen. The abdominal pain will gradually disappear after the cold improves.

3. Acute appendicitis

This is a common acute abdomen in children. It starts with pain around the umbilicus, which can move to the right lower abdomen after a few hours and the pain continues. The children often have gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and fever. Infants and young children may present unclearly and sometimes only present with gastrointestinal symptoms. Therefore, whenever a child has abdominal pain accompanied by fever and gastrointestinal symptoms, parents should consider the possibility of acute appendicitis and send the child to the hospital as soon as possible.

4. Intestinal Ascariasis

It is mostly caused by children’s bad eating and hygiene habits. Children often have pain around the umbilicus, sallow complexion, and irregular abdominal pain, which can often be relieved on their own. Other symptoms include teeth grinding, disturbed sleep, and irritability. After applying anthelmintic treatment, the abdominal pain will disappear.
