What should I do if my child coughs and vomits? These measures are very effective!

Many parents think that children’s coughing is normal and will get better after a while. This idea is wrong because children’s mouths and lungs are very fragile, and even a common cough can cause greater harm. What should they do at this time?

1. When the child has an upper respiratory tract infection, the nasal mucosa is already inflamed. If the child inhales dry air, the nasal cavity will become more uncomfortable and the cough will be aggravated. Therefore, to keep the air in the room moist, you can use a humidifier, hang a wet towel, mop the floor with water, or place a basin of clean water in the room to increase the air humidity.

2. If the child's cough is caused by a strange smell, no one should smoke in the room, and there should be no other strange smelling gases, such as kitchen fumes, etc., as these will aggravate the cough. When cleaning the room, do not let dust fly. You can gently wipe the furniture with a wet cloth to avoid causing coughing.

3. To prevent children from coughing while sleeping at night, let them lie on their side. It is best to raise their head or upper body slightly with a towel or pillow to prevent respiratory secretions from flowing back into the trachea and causing coughing, which will affect their sleep. This can also make children feel more comfortable and relieve breathing difficulties.

4. When a child vomits, place him on the bed and let him lie quietly. At the same time, place a basin beside the bed to prevent the child from vomiting again. Also, rinse your child's mouth with cold boiled water to remove bad odor in the mouth.

5. Don't rush to feed your child when he or she is vomiting, otherwise it will only aggravate the vomiting. Give your child some light salt water or sugar water every 10-15 minutes, and pay attention to whether the skin on his hands is dry to prevent dehydration.

6. Children’s stomach function is not very sound, and they are very likely to vomit due to coughing. Parents should pay attention to this. If such symptoms occur, they should prepare more easily digestible foods for the children. When using medication to treat children’s cough, they should also pay attention to the medication and strictly control the use of irritating drugs.
