What causes sore eyes in children?

If a child has sore and swollen eyes, parents should pay attention to it. If a child has incorrect posture when studying, reading, or doing homework in class, or if he or she overuses the eyes for a long time, it will cause sore and swollen eyes. Therefore, parents should help children check their eyesight regularly and correct their bad sitting posture.

Take your child to the hospital to check his eyes to see if he is nearsighted. Due to the current urbanization process and education system, children have to look at too many close things. In addition, children are young and their eye structure is unstable. Therefore, once myopia develops very quickly, it must be taken seriously by parents.

1. Parents should check their children's vision regularly so as to detect children with poor vision at an early stage, find out the causes, and take appropriate preventive measures. For example, students whose eyesight is deteriorating and whose studies are affected must wear corrective glasses. The formula of the glasses must be determined by a specialized ophthalmologist, and they cannot borrow other people's glasses. People with severe myopia should avoid participating in various intense sports to prevent serious consequences such as retinal detachment.

2. Guide children to develop good eye habits from an early age and consciously pay attention to eye hygiene. The posture should be correct when reading and writing, that is, the head should be straight, not tilted, and the eyes should maintain a certain distance from the desk surface and the book. Generally, the distance should be more than 30 to 35 cm, and not less than 25 cm. When reading, make sure the written page is at right angles to your line of sight so that the strokes of each character extend to the largest angle of view formed by the eyes and the image of the character formed on the retina is clearest. Therefore, it is best to raise the top of the book appropriately or prop it up with your hands so that the book forms a 30° to 40° angle with the table. At this time, as long as you tilt your head slightly forward, the text on the book will appear clearest.

3. Children's learning environment must ensure appropriate lighting conditions. Whether at school or at home, you should study in sufficient bright light. Do not read in dim light or moonlight; certainly do not read at dusk, dawn, or when it is dark.
