Why is my child short of breath?

When we are exercising, we will definitely encounter a problem, that is, the more intense the exercise, the more intense the breathing, and sometimes we may even feel short of breath. However, a short rest can relieve the problem. In addition, many people will encounter such situations in life, even without exercise. So the question is, why is the child short of breath?

What causes rapid breathing in babies?

1. Respiratory tract infection: If the baby has shortness of breath, in addition to excluding the reason of immature lungs, the first thing to consider is whether it is a respiratory tract infection. Respiratory tract infection may be caused by incomplete development of the baby's larynx and laryngeal bones, or by respiratory tract stenosis, obstruction, or interference from foreign objects, or it may be caused by viral infection.

2. Respiratory distress syndrome: If the baby is born within 34 weeks, the lungs may not be fully developed and shortness of breath may occur, which is actually respiratory distress syndrome.

3. Laryngeal edema: Infants’ rapid breathing may also be caused by laryngeal edema, which is an acute, allergic vocal cord edema, mostly caused by seafood, medicine or bee stings, and has nothing to do with physical constitution. It may also be accompanied by respiratory tract edema.

4. Diaphragm diseases: such as diaphragmatic hernia caused by lung hypoplasia.

5. Congenital structural abnormalities: For example, due to abnormal blood vessel structure, the respiratory tract is compressed, causing esophageal obstruction; or congenital abnormalities of the trachea.

What is the reason for a baby's rapid breathing? In fact, this needs to be judged based on your baby's own situation. It may be due to the sleeping posture or twisted neck. But it may also be pathological, so mothers must pay attention to it and seek treatment as soon as possible if any problem occurs so that the baby can grow up healthily.
