What is the treatment for precocious puberty in children?

Precocious puberty has become a very common problem nowadays. Generally speaking, it has brought great harm to many families. Precocious puberty is divided into several types, including true precocious puberty and false precocious puberty, which are completely different from each other. Precocious puberty is caused by hormonal lesions caused by the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, which are mostly inseparable from daily life and diet. So what are the treatments for children's precocious puberty?

Precocious puberty can be divided into three categories: true, false and incomplete.

1. True precocious puberty:

It is caused by the premature activation of the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal axis. Its occurrence mechanism is the same as that in normal circumstances. Endocrine changes and the development of internal and external genitalia are similar to normal maturity, accompanied by accelerated growth in height and weight, early skeletal closure, and early growth cessation, resulting in a shorter final height.

2. Pseudo-precocious puberty:

It is caused by an abnormally excessive source of sex hormones outside the body. Internal factors are mostly caused by lesions of peripheral endocrine glands (gonads or adrenal cortex); external factors are mostly the misuse of drugs, products and nutritional supplements containing sex hormones, the use of cosmetics containing sex hormones, and the mother's use of drugs containing gonadal hormones during pregnancy or lactation.

3. Incomplete precocious puberty:

This precocious puberty is not controlled by the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, and only breasts or pubic hair develop without the development of other specific characteristics.

Experts warn parents not to panic or cause psychological stress to their children when they begin to develop secondary sexual characteristics. Generally speaking, pseudo-precocious puberty and incomplete precocious puberty have little impact on children's health and can be cured by more adjustments in lifestyle and other aspects. True precocious puberty can be cured as long as it is treated promptly and scientifically.

When facing the problem of precocious puberty in children, we should first find the correct treatment method. Generally, if parents find that their children have breasts or menstruation, they can go to the hospital in time for correct examination and identification, and use scientific methods for treatment and care. In the face of incomplete precocious puberty, this situation should be actively treated.
