What should I pay attention to when my 1-year-old child has sinusitis?

Some children may suffer from sinusitis due to allergies. This is mainly because some substances that can cause allergies produce some special antigens, which are also called allergens. When these allergens enter the child’s nasal mucosa, they will cause an allergic reaction, leading to sinusitis. Of course, sinusitis is mainly caused by viral or bacterial infection. If a child has sinusitis, special attention must be paid.

Treatment for sinusitis can be divided into two categories: systemic and local. Systemic treatment mainly uses antibiotics. Since sinusitis is mostly caused by bacteria, especially pyogenic bacteria, the use of antibiotics is very necessary and very effective. It is best given by intramuscular injection or intravenous drip. The effect is faster than oral administration. Pay attention to the reaction after taking the medicine. Local treatment mainly involves draining pus and applying local medication. The commonly used local drainage method is called negative pressure method, which needs to be done in the hospital. That is, a suction device is used to extract the air from the nasal cavity, creating a vacuum negative pressure, so that the pus in the nasal cavity can be drained out. The negative pressure can also be used to introduce drugs, achieving the purpose of direct medication. This treatment is applied once a day for five days as a course of treatment. Usually, good results will be seen after several courses of treatment.

Parents should do a good job in their children's ideological work and cooperate with doctors. When suctioning, the sound of "opening" is made. Simple local treatment is to drop medicine into the nasal cavity, so that the liquid medicine can directly contact the nasal mucosa. In this way, the drug effect is fully exerted and the operation is also simple. Nasal drops such as ephedrine are mostly bitter, and they are easy to flow to the back of the throat when dripping into the nose, and the sick child will feel uncomfortable, so you can rinse your mouth with clean water after dripping the medicine to remove the residual liquid medicine in the throat.

Sinusitis is generally divided into acute sinusitis and chronic sinusitis. Bacterial or viral infection is an important cause of acute sinusitis, especially some anaerobic bacteria infection is most likely to cause this disease. Therefore, in order to prevent sinusitis, parents must pay attention to their children's cleanliness and hygiene, such as bathing their children frequently and paying attention to the cleanliness of their children's nasal cavity.
