What to do if your child has an itchy throat, cough, and phlegm

In our daily lives, we often feel that our throats are itchy and there is phlegm. Many times, this is caused by chronic pharyngitis. In fact, chronic pharyngitis has a great impact on our human body. If it is not treated in time, some complications may easily occur. Children may also experience this phenomenon. So what should we do if children have an itchy throat, cough and phlegm?

(1) Maintaining appropriate indoor temperature and humidity and fresh air is an effective measure to prevent and treat chronic pharyngitis. Dry indoor air and excessive cooling, heating or humidity can affect the defense function of the pharyngeal mucosa, causing functional disorders and abnormal sensation in the pharynx, which can eventually lead to chronic pharyngitis. Rinse your mouth and brush your teeth in the morning, after meals and before going to bed to keep your mouth clean. At the same time, preventing and treating oral and nasal diseases and eliminating inflammatory lesions cannot be ignored in the prevention and treatment of pharyngitis.

(2) Adjust your diet and eat light, easily digestible food, supplemented with some refreshing, heat-removing, tender and juicy foods. Such as oranges, tangerines, pineapples, sugar cane, olives, pears, apples, etc., or drink more water and cool drinks, but the drinks should not be too strong. Avoid tobacco, alcohol, ginger, pepper, mustard, garlic and all spicy foods.

(3) Qigong therapy for pharyngitis: Sit quietly, place your hands lightly on your thighs, close your eyes slightly, put your tongue against the roof of your mouth, calm your mind, breathe naturally, focus your mind on your throat, accumulate saliva in your mouth, and swallow it slowly when your mouth is full. Do this for 15 to 20 minutes. Then slowly open your eyes, gently rub your throat with the thumb and other four fingers of one hand, breathe naturally, focus your mind on your hands, and swallow it slowly when your mouth is full of saliva. Do this for 5 to 7 minutes. Practice 2 to 3 times a day, 15 to 30 minutes each time.

The above is an introduction on what to do if a child has an itchy throat, cough and phlegm. In daily life, you should give your child more water, keep the mouth clean, and try to avoid excessive strain on the throat. If the above methods cannot effectively relieve the symptoms, you should go to the hospital for treatment to avoid worsening of the condition.
