What should I do if my 1-year-old baby has a cold and fever?

Because babies are young, they will feel uncomfortable if they are not taken care of properly. Because their physiological functions are not fully developed, they often catch colds. This is a common situation for many babies. After a baby catches a cold, most babies will have a fever, which makes many parents particularly scared. When a baby catches a cold and fever, it needs to be dealt with in time. Let’s find out what to do if a 1-year-old baby has a cold and fever?

If the baby's temperature exceeds 38.5 degrees and there is a trend of rising (the whole body continues to feel hot), then the baby should be given antipyretic medicine or antipyretic drops. Antipyretic drugs mainly kill harmful cells, but they can also damage benign cells and cause side effects. Therefore, only give it to your baby when the fever is above 38.5 degrees, and stop giving it after the baby's fever subsides. If the baby's fever rises again after an hour or two and exceeds 38.5 degrees, you can give him some antipyretic drops (it should be more than an hour between two doses). Like the Meilin antipyretic drops currently commonly used in children's hospitals, although the effect is obvious, it only temporarily relieves the symptoms of fever. To cure it completely, you still need to take anti-inflammatory drugs (or combine them with heat-clearing and detoxifying drugs, isatis indigotica antiviral drugs, etc.) + antipyretic drugs.

When your baby has a fever for a long time, or the fever takes time to subside, and the temperature hovers around 38 degrees, don't rush to the hospital for an IV drip as long as the high fever does not persist. Because the antibodies in the baby's body are fighting the disease at this time, it is impossible to completely reduce the fever all at once. It will take at least one day. The baby should continue to take anti-inflammatory and antipyretic drugs, and drink more water, and he will slowly get better. However, many hospitals currently give babies with fever an IV drip directly. Although the fever goes down quickly, it completely disrupts the baby's own defense system, leaving the baby dependent on antibiotics and other drugs, resulting in increasingly poor resistance. Therefore, if your baby has a fever, the first choice is to treat it with medication. If the fever persists after taking the medicine for more than 3 days, or if the baby has complications such as coughing, then an IV drip can be used.

Through the above introduction, we know what to do if a one-year-old baby has a cold and fever. This is also a common situation in babies during their growth process. When such a situation occurs, we must pay attention to observing the baby. After the baby has a high fever that does not subside, it is particularly necessary to go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time with the baby. Be sure to pay attention.
