What should I do if my baby wants to speak but can't?

Everyone knows that babies cannot speak when they are born. They can only speak after a few months with the gradual guidance of their parents. All of these require constant teaching from parents, and many difficulties arise in this process. In life, some children are obviously old enough to speak and want to speak but they can't, which makes some parents anxious. So, what should we do if our baby wants to speak but can’t?

You should go to the hospital for appropriate assessments and be guided on specific methods to promote your child's language development based on the child's specific situation.

First, 1-3 months: Able to make simple monosyllables, which have no meaning and are just physiological phenomena;

Second, 4-6 months: If someone talks to him, he will respond with babbling and can laugh;

Third, 6-9 months: He will look for the sound he hears, respond to his own name, and try to imitate the voice of adults, making a series of babbling sounds;

Fourth, 1 year old: meaningful words appear, such as "Dad", "Mom", know how to wave goodbye, can imitate simple sounds, and can identify common objects;

Fifth, 1.5 years old: The conversational vocabulary increases, and the child can use simple words to communicate and express ideas, understand simple instructions given by others, and learn to say words from adults, such as: car, drink, meal, etc.;

Sixth, 2 years old: Able to use simple vocabulary to speak incomplete sentences, such as saying "drink water" or "give me" when expressing needs, and can repeat the last one or two words of the sentence. Children with rapid language development can even speak clear common sentences.

Seventh, speaking has a lot to do with the language environment.

1. Create an environment with sufficient language stimulation, read nursery rhymes and stories to your children more often, repeat appropriately, and increase your children's impression of phonetic sentences.

2. When talking to your child, speak slowly, clearly, and at a level close to the child's current development level.

3. Children should point to objects and name them before they start talking.

4. Stimulate your baby's desire to speak

Play games with your baby, sing nursery rhymes with him or describe to him what happens during the game. When the baby has any requests, the mother can appropriately delay satisfying them according to the baby's age, forcing the baby to learn to express his needs in words, and then meet his requests.

When the baby wants to speak but can't, parents must not rush to choose a method blindly. Instead, you should first go to some hospitals to have your child checked to see if there is any problem with your child's hearing or vocalization. This way we can find a way to treat the child later.
