Can infants and young children eat yogurt?

Yogurt is a type of milk, and it is given this name because of its acidic taste. Yogurt not only tastes different from milk, but also has different nutritional value and functions from regular milk. Drinking yogurt regularly can not only help people replenish calcium in time, but also nourish the stomach. For most people, they can drink yogurt at ordinary times. However, can newborn babies eat yogurt? I believe mothers are very concerned about this issue.

Although yogurt has high nutritional value, it is best not for babies under 1 year old to drink yogurt. There are several reasons for this:

1. The protein molecules in yogurt are large, which is not conducive to baby's digestion and absorption. For infants, the gastrointestinal system is not yet fully developed, the gastric mucosal barrier is not sound, and the activity of gastric acid and pepsin is low. Yogurt can "corrode" the delicate gastrointestinal mucosa of infants, thereby affecting digestion and absorption. .

2. Yogurt will affect the growth of beneficial intestinal bacteria. Although the lactic acid bacteria in yogurt can inhibit and eliminate many pathogenic microorganisms, they also destroy the growth conditions of bacteria that are beneficial to the human body and affect normal digestive function.

3. Infants and young children are born with insufficient spleen and intestines, which can easily cause indigestion and spleen disharmony. Eating yogurt directly out of the refrigerator can easily cause indigestion and spleen disharmony in babies. Giving babies yogurt too early can also develop a preference for sweets.

It is best for babies to choose to drink yogurt after they are 1 year old, or preferably after 2 years old. One small cup a day, don't drink too much.

It is best for babies under three years old to feed mainly with formula milk. If the baby does not drink milk powder, then choose fresh milk and yogurt. Comparing the nutrient content of 100 ml of fresh milk and 100 ml of formula milk powder, the content of various nutrients and vitamins in formula milk powder is much superior to that of fresh milk. Because it is specially formulated, the nutritional ingredients are more comprehensive and scientific, and can meet the baby's growth and development needs.

Newborn babies are generally not allowed to drink yogurt. This is mainly because the protein molecules in yogurt are too large and are generally difficult for newborn babies to digest. Not only that, yogurt will also destroy the intestinal flora of infants and young children, which is also harmful to their health. However, when the baby is over one year old, he can drink yogurt normally.
