What to do if your child has dandruff on his head

Based on our daily life experience, we know that having dandruff on the head is a relatively normal condition, but if there is too much dandruff, it will affect our normal life. So what should we do if our children have dandruff on their heads? Dandruff may be caused by some diseases that the child himself has. Of course, there are other situations. Let us now find out what to do if a child has dandruff on his head?

It is normal for babies to have dandruff on their heads. Babies have vigorous sebum secretion, which can easily lead to sebum accumulation on the scalp, forming a crust, which is dandruff. However, you should also pay attention to the scalp clogging the pores and hindering hair growth. It is recommended that you keep the water temperature at 37-38℃, choose children's shampoo, and avoid adult products. If scabs grow on your scalp, apply boiled and cooled vegetable oil on your head, then wash it off with warm water. Do not wash your hair too often, once every 1 to 2 days in spring and summer, and once every 3 to 4 days in autumn and winter.

Cradle cap is a product of the baby's metabolism and is mainly related to the following factors:

1. Heredity: If mom or dad has a lot of dandruff or has ever suffered from seborrheic dermatitis, the baby will easily develop cradle cap.

2. Lifestyle habits: According to traditional Chinese customs, newborn babies should not be bathed or washed. Over time, the cradle cap will become thicker and thicker. Western babies rarely have thick cradle cap because they are bathed and washed frequently starting from the time they are newborns.

3. Eating habits: If the diet of breastfeeding mothers and babies is high in fat, they are more likely to develop cradle cap.

Cradle cap affects baby's health

The milk crust is hard and sticks to the fontanelle, which will limit the buffering function of the fontanelle's expansion and contraction. If the baby develops encephalopathy due to increased intracranial pressure, the fontanelle will lose its function of buffering high pressure.

In addition, the cradle cap covers the fontanelle, obscuring it, making it impossible for doctors to detect important symptoms such as dehydration (sunken fontanelle) and increased intracranial pressure (full and bulging fontanelle) in time, thus affecting diagnosis and treatment.

The dirt hidden in the cradle cap can also affect the treatment of head injuries and easily lead to infection.

Easy solution to scab removal

A: There are two ways to solve this problem.

◎Vegetable oil washing method

Ingredients: You can choose vegetable oil, olive oil, almond oil

Follow me:

1. To ensure cleanliness, heat and disinfect the vegetable oil first, let it cool and set aside.

2. When cleaning, first apply cooled clean vegetable oil on the surface of the cradle cap on the scalp, leave it for several hours or a day, do not rinse it off immediately. After the cradle cap is softened by the vegetable oil, thin ones will generally fall off naturally, while thick ones will require more vegetable oil.

3. When the cradle cap falls off, the mother can comb it gently with a small comb, and the cradle cap will fall off easily. It is best to use a baby comb with soft and blunt teeth.

4. Finally, use children's shampoo and warm water to wash off the oil on the head. If it’s not thorough in one go, repeat it several times.
