Will being thin affect your child's height growth?

Will being thin affect your child's height growth?

In the 21st century society, there is a common problem: children are prone to anorexia and picky eating, which leads to insufficient nutrition and makes them thin. Therefore, many parents worry that their children’s thinness will affect their height growth. This is indeed a hotly-discussed issue. Both obesity and thinness have an impact on children, and it is not unreasonable for parents to worry about this. Will being thin affect a child’s height growth?

Every child will have a period of rapid growth and a period of slow growth, and the age of each child in each period varies from person to person, so there is no need to worry too much, just make sure your child's daily diet is supplemented with nutrition.

Nutrition is key to children's physical growth. The energy, protein and amino acids required for normal physical growth must be supplied by food, mainly meat, eggs, beans and legumes. Bone formation also requires adequate amounts of calcium, phosphorus and trace amounts of manganese and iron. Insufficient calcium intake and vitamin D deficiency will cause insufficient bone mineralization. Vitamin A deficiency will cause bones to become shorter and thicker. Vitamin C deficiency will cause defects in the bone cell matrix and make it brittle, all of which will affect bone growth.

At present, the average family's diet includes both meat and vegetables, and the nutrition should be comprehensive and sufficient. Parents should be careful not to let their children develop a habit of picky eating, and should not let their children eat too many snacks which will affect the intake of important nutrients. Children are in the growing period, so they should eat more high-protein, high-calorie foods. They should also eat fruits and vegetables, as the vitamins and fiber are helpful for growth. Therefore, it is recommended that parents can work hard on their children’s food choices and choose more foods with higher nutritional value for their children.
