Should babies be bathed every day?

Many parents bathe their newborn babies every day. Everyone has some common sense about hygiene. In our country, if a baby does not take a bath, it means that the baby does not pay attention to hygiene, which is very bad for the body. If the baby does not pay attention to hygiene, it may breed bacteria and cause bacterial infection, which may lead to various uncomfortable diseases. There are many people who bathe their babies every day. Many families do this now. So should babies take a bath every day?

When bathing a newborn, in order to prevent it from getting cold and getting sick or drowning, you should keep in mind the following points:

1. Prepare fully before taking a bath

Before bathing, you should put baby soap, shampoo, and bath cloth in advance.

Prepare 1 square piece of pure cotton bleached cloth, gauze, cotton swabs and other necessities and place them in a convenient place where they can be used at any time. The clothes that the child needs to change, diapers, diaper bags, swaddles and other clothes should not only be put together, but also laid out in a certain order. Generally, the order of laying should be: small quilt (or small blanket), loose-fitting half-opening shirt, diaper bag, and large bath towel. Prepare a bathtub and a small washbasin to wash the body and head and face respectively. The bath water in the bathtub should be enough to cover the newborn's abdomen when the newborn lies in the water (assuming the navel is well fixed). The water temperature should be around 40°C. Pour water of the same temperature into a small washbasin. After preparing the water, the mother should act quickly to avoid the water getting cold.

2. Pay attention to the order and method. To adapt to the physiological characteristics of newborns, a reasonable bathing order should be arranged. The entire bathing process should be orderly, that is, follow the order of washing the head, face, front of the torso, arms, thighs, back and buttocks. Use appropriate methods and resolve the issue quickly to avoid causing discomfort to the newborn. 1. When washing the baby's hair, be careful not to let bath water enter the baby's mouth, eyes, nose, or ears. Be sure to dry the washed area after washing.

2. Wash your face with gauze dipped in baby soap to prevent the soap from entering the eyes, mouth, nose, ears and other parts. 3. Wash the trunk: Take off the newborn's clothes, wrap the newborn with a bath towel, and wash the newborn slowly in the order of legs, abdomen, shoulders, and neck. Cover with a bath towel immediately after washing.

4. After washing the back and buttocks, wash the front body and turn the body over appropriately. After washing the back, turn the newborn's body over, cover the back with a bath towel, and then wash the buttocks.

3. Check carefully after bathing. Be sure to check carefully after bathing. When the newborn is taken out of the water, he should be quickly placed on the prepared bath towel, and the whole body should be carefully dried and a small amount of talcum powder should be applied, with gentle movements. Be quick when dressing a newborn and putting on diapers. After completing the above steps, carefully check whether there is any soap foam remaining in the newborn's external auditory canal and nostrils. If so, wipe it off immediately with a sterilized cotton swab. Be very gentle to avoid damaging the child's external auditory canal and nasal mucosa.

4. Arrange a reasonable number and time of bathing

A newborn's daily routine can only be fixed with help from the outside world. Bathing at irregular frequencies and times will inevitably affect the normal life patterns of the newborn. Generally, a newborn baby can be bathed once a day (twice a day in hot summer), and each bath should be scheduled between 10 am and 2 pm. If the living conditions are good and the indoor temperature is stable, you can also arrange bathing time before going to bed at night. This can often help children who cry or have restless sleep at night to fall asleep. Also, avoid bathing your baby before or after breastfeeding. The time for bathing a newborn should not be too long, generally only about 5 minutes. After 28 days of the neonatal period, it is advisable to limit it to 10 minutes.

Baby bathing must be regular. If you want to bathe your child every day, it is best to choose a reasonable time to bathe your child to avoid bathing your child too frequently. Also, avoid using shower gel frequently when bathing your child, as this is very bad for the child's body. It is best to take a plain water bath every day. If you feel your child's body is dirty, you can put some shower gel and other bathing products for your child.
