How to care for newborns who sweat and prevent colds

Newborns have a relatively fast metabolism, and it is normal for them to sweat. This helps them metabolize excess heat through sweating. When a newborn is sweating, you must keep him warm to avoid catching a cold. You must dress him properly and cover him with quilts, because sweating will take away a lot of water from the body, so you must replenish water and electrolytes in time.

1. Dress your baby appropriately.

Most of the baby's sweating is physiological sweating, especially when the ambient temperature rises, and parents fail to remove the baby's clothes or bedding in time, causing the baby to sweat more. Therefore, you should add or remove clothes and bedding for your baby in time according to changes in ambient temperature.

2. Drink more boiled water and replenish more electrolytes.

When the baby sweats a lot, give him more warm boiled water and add a little salt if necessary to replenish the body's lost water and electrolytes, which can also reduce the baby's sweating. Boiled water should be boiled naturally. Do not use "thousands of boiling water" or unboiled water, so as not to damage the baby's gastrointestinal health. In order to prevent your baby from catching a cold after sweating, especially at night, you can prepare some Chinese patent medicines that can both stop sweating and prevent colds for your baby to drink.

3. Supplement vitamin D.

If a child is usually weak and sweats profusely when falling asleep at night, or in severe cases sweats all night long and is accompanied by symptoms such as irritability, crying, and weight loss, this is pathological hyperhidrosis. Common causes include vitamin D deficiency rickets. Children should be given vitamin D and calcium supplements in time to supplement vitamins. You should also pay attention to eating more calcium-rich foods, such as fish, shrimp, etc. You should often hold your baby in the sun, but be careful not to expose him to excessive sun. It is best to expose him to the sun for about 2-3 hours a day, which can supplement vitamin D and promote calcium absorption.

4. Take a bath and change clothes frequently

When your baby sweats a lot, give him a hot bath after wiping off the sweat, and do some touch massage at the same time, which can have a certain antiperspirant effect. Especially in hot summer, babies sweat easily. You should take a bath every day. After taking a bath, apply some talcum powder on the sweating parts, and the baby will sweat less. Wearing clothes should be changed and washed frequently. Don’t forget to expose them to the sun after washing to sterilize and disinfect them.
