Is it better to bathe a baby in the morning or at night?

Many people are arguing about whether it is better to bathe children at night or in the morning. There is no accurate answer to this controversy until now, because many people have their own opinions and reasonings, and their own reasons. Many people think that bathing children in the morning and at night are both OK, but some people think that bathing in the morning is not good, and some people think that bathing at night is not good. So is it better for babies to bathe in the morning or at night?

Babies have a relatively active metabolism and produce more oil, while their skin is relatively tender. If they don’t bathe regularly, it will be bad for their skin. In the hospital, babies are usually bathed every day. At home, if conditions are suitable, they can also be bathed every day. In autumn and winter, due to the dry weather, you can wash it once every one or two days.

Be gentle and quick when bathing your baby. First let the baby lie on his back, and the mother holds the baby's head with her left hand. Use the thumb and middle finger to press the baby's ears forward and put them on the face in front of the ears to prevent the face washing water from entering the ears. The child's hips and waist are clamped under the adult's armpit, with the child lying on his back on the adult's left front hip. After being fixed, use a small towel soaked in warm water in the right hand to first wash the secretions from both eyes (wipe from the inner corner of the eye to the outer corner of the eye), behind the ears, neck, chest, back, armpits, upper limbs and hands. Newborn babies' hands are clenched tightly and should be opened and cleaned. When scrubbing the abdomen, do not wet the umbilical cord. Then, turn the baby upside down and let his head rest on the mother's left chest. Hold the baby's left thigh with your left hand, and use a small towel soaked in water in your right hand to wash the perineum, groin and buttocks first (baby girls must be washed from front to back), and finally wash the lower limbs and feet. If you are not skilled at the beginning, you can also cooperate with two people to bathe the baby.

When bathing your baby, you generally don't need to use cleaning products such as shower gel or soap. Just wash with warm water.

The best time to bathe your baby is before feeding. If the baby has just finished feeding, you must wait two hours before bathing him/her to avoid spitting up milk. Mothers can choose a warmer time of the day to bathe their babies, such as between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The water temperature is about 37-38 degrees, which is slightly higher than the baby's body temperature. The indoor temperature should reach about 26 degrees when taking a bath. If the weather is cold, you can use electric heaters or air conditioners to raise the room temperature. (Tip: If you bathe your baby in the bathroom, do not use a light-heated bathroom heater, because babies like to look at the light and this type of bathroom heater is harmful to the baby's eyes and will affect the baby's future vision).

When bathing a child, be gentle and quick. Wash in two parts, using the navel as the dividing line. First, let the child lie on his back. The mother holds the child's head with her left hand, and presses the child's ears forward with her thumb and middle finger, placing them on the face in front of the ears to prevent the face washing water from entering the ears. After that, turn the child upside down with the top of the child's head against the mother's left chest, hold the child's left thigh with the left hand, and use a small towel soaked in water with the right hand to wash the perineum, groin and buttocks first (baby girls must be washed from front to back), and finally wash the lower limbs and feet. Soap is generally not needed. After washing, immediately wrap the child in a large towel and gently dry him/her, paying special attention to the wrinkles of the skin, and then apply a thin layer of baby powder. Don't put any balm or cream on your face as this may irritate your skin. If there are dry scabs in the nasal cavity, you can gently twist them out with a wet cotton swab, and finally use a cotton ball dipped in a little peanut oil to apply it on your hair.

In fact, you can bathe your baby in the morning or evening. However, no matter when you bathe your child, there are many things to pay attention to during the bathing process. You must use shower gel to bathe your child reasonably, and not too much. For example, if you bathe your child every day, you can use shower gel for two days out of five, and give your child a plain water bath at other times. This bathing method can avoid causing harm to the child's skin.
