Why does a newborn baby spray milk from his nose?

It is common for newborns to spit up and spray milk. Although this phenomenon is common, you should pay more attention to it. Severe milk spraying without timely care can easily cause nasal suffocation. You must find out the reason for milk spraying. Once the reason is found and solved, the situation will be reduced. Otherwise, the baby is prone to rashes around the mouth and nose. Now let's look at the possible reasons why your baby may spray milk.

?1. Large appetite but small stomach capacity.

2. The stomach is shallow and when filled with food, it is easy for the food to overflow due to the increased abdominal pressure caused by the twisting of the body.

3. There is a sphincter at the junction of the stomach and esophagus. Its function is to prevent the contents of the stomach from flowing back into the esophagus. However, the sphincter of infants and young children is not fully developed.

4. Most of the food for babies is liquid, and liquid food is easier to reflux in the stomach than solid food.

Improvement methods: Eat small meals frequently; after each feeding, hold the baby upright to pass gas; do not let the baby suck too quickly when feeding, and pause for a while in between; the hole of the bottle mouth should be moderate. If the hole is too small, sucking will be more strenuous and air will be easily inhaled into the mouth from the corners of the mouth and then swallowed into the stomach. If the hole of the nipple is too big, the milk will flood the throat and it will be easy to choke; do not let the baby lie flat immediately after feeding, hold the baby upright and pat the back gently (the mother's hands should be cupped). If lying down, raise the baby's upper body and lie on the right side; avoid exciting or shaking the baby after feeding.

If breastfeeding mothers pay more attention to the above issues, they can avoid frequent milk spraying symptoms in their babies. For the baby's gastrointestinal health, breastfeeding mothers must make sure that their children eat small meals frequently. You cannot keep feeding your baby just to make him fatter. The child’s stomach cannot withstand such stress and it will only cause indigestion.
