When is the voice change period for girls

When is the voice change period for girls

The development time of boys and girls is inconsistent, and girls develop earlier than boys. Generally speaking, girls' voices don't change much, not as obviously as boys'. These physical changes are normal for boys and girls during puberty, so don't be alarmed. Pay more attention to protecting your voice and try not to sing. Excessive singing can cause damage to your voice. Drinking more hot water can moisten your throat.

The voice change period refers specifically to adolescents aged 14 to 16. The voice change period for boys is generally between 14 and 16 years old, and is completed by the age of 18; for girls, it is generally between 13 and 15 years old, and is completed at the latest around 16 years old.

Because of the growth of the larynx and vocal cords, the voice becomes hoarse, the vocal range becomes narrow, pronunciation fatigue, local congestion and edema, and increased secretions occur, resulting in the voice of speaking and singing being different from that in childhood and lasting for a period of six months to a year.

The voice change period can be divided into the early voice change period, the voice change period and the late voice change period.

Be sure to pay attention to the following three points:

1. Use your voice correctly, don’t make loud noises, and don’t sing excessively.

2. Keep your throat warm, especially in winter. Try not to wear low-necked clothes and be careful of catching a cold.

3. Combine work and rest in life. Not only should you actively participate in sports activities to enhance your physical fitness, but you should also ensure adequate sleep every day and not stay up late.

Healthy diet to protect your vocal cords

in principle:

1. Do not eat or eat less irritating food, try not to eat sour, spicy, bitter food such as garlic, pepper, ginger, leek, etc., because these foods will irritate the trachea, larynx and vocal cords;

Second, do not drink too hot water in winter, do not drink too cold drinks in summer, and do not drink cold water immediately after strenuous exercise;

3. Smoking and drinking are strictly prohibited. The harmful substances in tobacco and alcohol are very harmful to the growth and development of adolescents (including the growth and development of the vocal cords);

Fourth, both staple food and side dishes should be soft and delicate food;

5. Do not eat fried peanuts, popcorn, rice crust, nuts and fried hard and dry foods to avoid mechanical damage to the throat.

The vocal cords are a pair of elastic mucosal folds located on both sides of the laryngeal cavity. Their length and thickness vary from person to person. In children, the length of the vocal cords of both boys and girls is 6 to 8 mm, so the sounds they produce are children's voices, and children's voices cannot distinguish between boys and girls. When adolescents are between 14 and 16 years old, they begin to enter the voice change period, which is mainly manifested by hoarseness, local congestion and edema, and gradual changes in pitch and timbre. It usually takes half a year to one year to complete the voice change period. The voice of an adult man is rough and low, with a wide and thick volume, which is closely related to the thickness, width and length (about 20 to 25 mm) of his vocal cords. Adult women pronounce words in a shrill voice, which is related to the narrowness, thinness and length (15 to 20 mm) of the vocal cords. It can be seen from this that the difference in timbre between men and women is particularly obvious after voice change. In order to ensure a good voice during the voice change period, dietary conditioning should be emphasized.

Pay attention to your intake of collagen and elastin.

Because the vocal organs are mainly composed of the larynx, Adam's apple and thyroid cartilage, these organs are composed of collagen and elastin. The vocal cords are also made up of elastic protein membranes. Therefore, adolescents in the voice change period should eat foods rich in collagen and elastin, such as pig's trotters, pigskin, and tendons.
