Crying after receiving polio vaccine

Crying after receiving polio vaccine

Poliomyelitis is a common bone marrow disease in people's daily lives. It is a very serious bone marrow disease that has a great impact on people's physical health and normal life. Because poliomyelitis has a great impact on people, many parents will give their children polio vaccines at an early age. However, some people will start crying uncontrollably after receiving the polio vaccine. When this happens, many people worry that it is caused by the child's allergies or some other discomfort. So what should we do when such a problem occurs?

Why does the child cry after getting a polio shot?

Generally, this is a normal reaction to the vaccine. Vaccination itself is to give children antibodies to a virus. In this case, it is recommended to measure the child's temperature to see if it is high, comfort the child more and let the child drink more water. There is nothing to worry about. If the child continues to cry, it is recommended that you go to the hospital to have a routine blood test for the child.

Polio injection precautions

1. Use with caution in the following cases: those with a family or personal history of convulsions, those suffering from chronic diseases, those with a history of epilepsy, and those with allergic constitutions.

2. The polio vaccine is in the form of sugar pills or liquids. It is afraid of heat and will become ineffective when exposed to heat. Therefore, do not take the medicine with hot water. When taking the medicine, first crush the sugar pill with a spoon or chopsticks, or dissolve the sugar pill in cold boiled water (do not use hot water) with a spoon and take it. Older children can swallow it directly.

3. After being taken out from a -20°C environment and opened, the polio vaccine should be stored at 2-8°C and used up on the same day. Any remaining vaccine should be discarded.

4. Drugs such as epinephrine should be available for emergency use in case of severe allergic reactions. After vaccination, you should be observed on site for at least 30 minutes.

5. The injection of immunoglobulin should be separated by at least 3 months from this vaccine to avoid affecting the immune effect.

6. When using different live attenuated vaccines for vaccination, there should be an interval of at least 1 month.

7. People with high fever, impaired immunity, or those who are taking corticosteroids or anti-cancer drugs should not take polio vaccine.

8. Once the disease occurs, you should go to the hospital for isolation treatment in time, and report to the health and epidemic prevention station. Close contacts should be under medical observation for 20 days. Those who have not taken the vaccine or have taken incomplete vaccines should take them immediately.

9. It is best to stop breastfeeding within half an hour after taking the vaccine (you can use milk or other milk substitutes), otherwise the antibodies in the breast milk will neutralize (kill) the vaccine and affect its effectiveness.

Why does a baby cry after getting a polio shot? In fact, this is a normal reaction after the vaccine. Because babies are small, they are more sensitive to external stimuli than adults. Secondly, this vaccine is a normal reaction. Generally, there will be a certain fever after the vaccine, and the baby will naturally feel uncomfortable and cry.
