What is the most effective way to treat stuttering in children?

In our current lives, many young parents lack a lot of experience in taking care of children, which results in insufficient attention to their children and some mistakes during their children's growth and development stage. Today, I will analyze with the majority of young parents and friends the issue of how to most effectively treat childhood stuttering, hoping to help everyone understand.

Stuttering, commonly known as stammering, is a disorder of normal speech, not a physiological defect or disease of the vocal organs. Children with stuttering have difficulty in pronunciation, repeat themselves when speaking, have red faces, and have tense neck and back muscles and emotions. They lose speech fluency, pause on certain words, and put emphasis and drag on sounds. They may also suddenly stop speaking or drag out a word for a long time. Especially when I'm excited, I'm so anxious that I can't speak.

Stuttering is divided into transient stuttering, benign stuttering and permanent stuttering. Generally, stuttering in young children when they are learning to speak can be corrected in a few months as long as the parents correct it patiently. This is called transient stuttering. Stuttering in children aged 3 to 6 years can disappear in six months to six years. This is called benign stuttering. Children over 7 years old repeat the first word when speaking, sometimes lightly, sometimes heavily, and the pronunciation is very long and unclear. They often use facial and body movements to help them speak. This is called permanent stuttering.

1. Never laugh at the child, and certainly don’t try to amuse yourself by imitating him.

2. Help children build confidence in curing stuttering. Parents should create a relaxed and pleasant living and language environment for their children to reduce their attention to stuttering.

3. Talk to children patiently and speak more slowly when talking to them. If the child does not follow along immediately, do not rush to remind him or her. Instead, let him or her continue speaking naturally so that the child can immerse himself or herself in the atmosphere of natural conversation. Avoid constantly interrupting, correcting, or blaming children when they are speaking. When the child no longer stutters, slowly increase the speaking speed.

I wonder if after reading the introduction of the several types of methods I provided above, you have a deep understanding of how to most effectively treat children's stuttering. In our lives, as young parents who lack experience, we must pay attention to understanding the developmental stage of our children in advance, make timely adjustments, and ensure healthy development.
