How to correct stuttering in children?

In our current social environment, more and more young parents are becoming parents for the first time. They lack life experience and are unfamiliar with their children's growth and development stages. As a result, it is easy for them to neglect their children's development stages and cause some problems. Since some parents have discovered that their children have stuttering problems, I will analyze with you today what are the correct methods for correcting children’s stuttering?

Create a pleasant and stable environment for children who stutter, eliminate their mental burden, and alleviate their stuttering symptoms.

Ask your child to slow down his or her speaking speed. This can not only reduce the occurrence of stuttering, but also make it easier for people to hear clearly. When the child no longer stutters, slowly increase his or her speaking speed.

Ask your child to speak in a lower voice, as speaking softly can effectively prevent stuttering.

For the first word of each sentence, encourage the child to pronounce it slowly and softly, and then slide gently to the second word.

In daily life, we should take every opportunity to talk and practice with children who stutter. We can let children sing, recite nursery rhymes, tell stories or retell personal happy things to train their speech coherence and help them correct stuttering.

Correcting a child’s stuttering can be done by changing the language. For example, if a child originally spoke Shanghainese, you can ask him to speak Mandarin, change his language habits, and force him to use his brain and think before speaking.

1. Treat it normally. If you are nervous, it will show in the tone and intonation of your voice. The child will be hinted at and will also become nervous, and his speech will become even less fluent.

2. Never make fun of, hate, threaten or even beat or scold someone.

3. When he is around, don’t discuss his stuttering with others and don’t imitate his stuttering, otherwise it will make things worse.

4. Let your child sing before speaking, so that he will have confidence in speaking, and the problem can be cured after repeated practice.

5. When the child makes some improvement, praise him/her greatly. This will increase his/her confidence in speaking normally.

I wonder if after my analysis this time, young parents and friends will also learn some simple methods to correct children's stuttering. Many times, when we find these symptoms, we must take timely action and not force changes, which can easily affect the child's psychology.
