Why does my child keep clearing his throat?

Why does my child keep clearing his throat?

Many mothers will ask, children always feel like there is something in their throats and they always clear their throats, but it doesn’t have much effect. What is the reason for this? In fact, this phenomenon requires alerting people to chronic pharyngitis. In fact, pharyngitis is a relatively common ear, nose and throat disease. The symptoms that patients often show in the early stages are discomfort in the throat and dry mouth. So, what are the symptoms of chronic pharyngitis? What can we do in daily life to prevent chronic pharyngitis?

Chronic pharyngitis includes three major symptoms

1. Common symptoms: Throat discomfort, including dryness, swelling, blockage, itching, discomfort when swallowing, foreign body sensation, etc. Because the pharyngeal secretions are thick, patients often make "grunting sounds" in the hope of clearing the pharyngeal secretions.

2. Common signs: The patient's pharynx is sensitive, which can easily cause nausea, the pharyngeal mucosa is congested and dark red, and scattered small protruding particles or pieces like beads can be seen on the posterior pharyngeal wall. There is a dilated vascular network around it, and the surface is sometimes attached with mucus or purulent secretions.

3. Typical symptoms: a foreign body sensation in the throat, itching, slight pain, dryness and burning sensation, etc.; there is often a sticky secretion attached to the posterior wall of the throat that is difficult to clear, especially at night, with a "grunting" sound, as if trying to clear it quickly. The secretions may cause an irritating cough, or even nausea and vomiting.

If examination shows diffuse congestion of the pharyngeal mucosa, dark red in color, and with a small amount of viscous secretions, it is chronic simple pharyngitis. Symptoms of chronic hypertrophic pharyngitis include thickening of the mucosa, diffuse congestion, or thickening of the palatal arch and soft palate edges, and numerous granular protrusions of lymphoid follicles on the posterior pharyngeal wall.

So how can we avoid the occurrence of pharyngitis?

1. Prevent colds. If a cold is not treated promptly, the virus and bacteria will spread to the throat and cause pharyngitis.

2. Keep your throat moisturized. Drink more warm water, drink cool throat-soothing drinks and eat fruits such as sugarcane, pears, water chestnuts, pomegranates, etc. often. Gargle with salt water every morning. You can also eat radishes raw or cook with radishes. Keep the air in the room moist and clean. When using heating, be careful not to make the room too dry. You can use a humidifier, or put a wet towel on the heater before going to bed to keep the air moist.

3. Exercise actively. Physical exercise can improve the body's disease resistance and effectively prevent the occurrence of pharyngitis. Low human resistance makes it easier for germs to invade, so strengthening physical fitness and improving disease resistance are the keys to preventing disease.

The editor reminds everyone that in daily life, you should eat less fried and irritating food. Avoid overusing your voice or shouting loudly, get enough rest, and reduce fatigue. In addition, the throat area of the human body is most susceptible to irritation from dry cold wind, so you must wear more clothes and keep warm. Don't wear too thin clothes just to look good.
