What causes shortness of breath in newborn babies?

We all know that the breathing of newborn babies is irregular. Some babies will have rapid breathing, while some babies will have slow breathing. For cases where babies have rapid breathing, we recommend that mothers should take their children to the hospital for a physical examination in time, because this situation may be due to congenital heart disease or some other diseases, which will have a great impact on the child's development.

Generally speaking, a newborn's breathing is steady and regular, about 40 times per minute. But the newborn's breathing is sometimes fast and sometimes slow, and there are even slight pauses. At this point, parents may start to worry. Then, we need to observe the specific situation of the newborn. A newborn's breathing may be affected by many situations. For example, when crying or moving, the breathing may speed up to about 80 times per minute.

If the newborn has no cyanosis of the lips and the breathing pause is not long, this is normal and there is no need to worry. If in a quiet state, the newborn's breathing exceeds 60 times per minute and is less than 20 times, or the lips are cyanotic, the sucking is weak, the crying is faint, and breathing is difficult (obvious depression can be seen in the suprasternal fossa and intercostal space when inhaling), then the newborn is in critical condition and should seek medical attention promptly.

In addition, a 3mm atrial septal defect was found 3 days after birth. If there are no above symptoms, it is not a big problem. If there are above symptoms, go to the hospital. If there are no other symptoms, check again after 3 or 6 months. Color ultrasound also has errors. Maybe it is gone. However, be sure to count your breaths in a quiet environment. When a baby cries, his breathing rate increases.

From the above introduction, we can understand the reasons for shortness of breath in newborn babies. I hope mothers can pay attention to this and treat their babies' shortness of breath in time. For newborn babies, we should take relevant protective measures. Remember to ensure indoor air circulation, and you cannot cover the child's head with a quilt.
