What causes ADHD?

The physical development of children is very important to a family. Some children are very naughty when they are young and cannot keep quiet for a moment. They will make mischief at school. After examination, it was found that they suffered from ADHD. ADHD is a common disease in children, so it must be taken seriously. Today, let’s take a look at what causes ADHD.

>01

Genetic factors:

Family and twin studies have shown that genetic factors are an important cause of ADHD. Molecular genetic studies have shown that ADHD is a polygenic genetic disease that is closely related to neurodevelopment.

>02

Organic brain factors:

Studies have found that maternal infection during pregnancy, exposure to toxic substances, malnutrition, smoking, drinking, intrauterine distress due to various reasons, abnormal delivery, low birth weight, and central nervous system infection or brain trauma within 1-2 years after birth may all lead to abnormal neurodevelopment in children and increase the risk of ADHD.

>03

Abnormal central nervous system neurotransmitters:

Neurochemical studies have found that children with ADHD have insufficient norepinephrine function, insufficient dopamine function, and excessive or relatively insufficient serotonin function in their brains. These neurotransmitters are believed to activate the cerebral cortex or strengthen social behavior. Therefore, it is speculated that the cause of ADHD may be a behavioral disorder caused by neurotransmitter imbalance.

>04

Psychosocial factors:

Both adverse family and social environments may increase children's risk of developing ADHD. Children living in a disharmonious family environment are often in a state of tension, depression, fear, anxiety and contradiction. They are prone to behavioral problems such as impulsiveness, hyperactivity, inattention, emotional instability, or aggravation of certain symptoms of ADHD.

The above article introduces the causes of ADHD in detail. The symptoms of ADHD are not very obvious, so they are easily ignored. Parents must pay attention to changes in their children. If the child is too active, they must actively check to prevent the child from developing ADHD. If it is found that the child has ADHD, timely treatment should be given to avoid affecting the body.
