Signs of hunger in newborns

The most common things newborns do every day are naturally sleeping and feeding. Some babies have well-developed digestive systems and are more likely to feel hungry, but they cannot express themselves in words. So when the baby cries constantly, it may mean that the baby is hungry, and parents should feed the baby in time. When feeding your baby, be careful not to feed him too much. It is enough to feed him until he is full. Eating too much may cause indigestion.

1. Crying due to hunger: When a baby is hungry, he will definitely make a fuss. If the baby has not eaten for a while and starts crying, it is usually a signal that he wants to eat.

Special tip: Don’t feed the baby as soon as he cries. As soon as a baby is born, he has various needs, but the only way to express these needs is to cry. Some new mothers think that when their baby cries it means he is hungry, so they feed him immediately. In fact, many times, babies cry because their diapers are wet, they need caressing, they are sleepy or uncomfortable. You should first understand why the baby is crying. You should not feed the baby as soon as he cries, otherwise it will easily lead to overfeeding.

2. Use the little mouth to find the nipple: In addition to crying, if there is something close to the baby's mouth, he will tilt his mouth to one side and make an urgent searching movement. Generally speaking, this is a signal that the baby is looking for something to eat.

3. When the nipple is brought to his mouth, he can't wait to hold it and suck it with satisfaction.

4. When feeding, the baby eats very attentively and is hardly disturbed by the noise around him, which means the baby is hungry.

If your baby is not full, he or she will send out the following signals:

① Feeding performance: If the baby is not full, observe the baby while feeding. You will find that you cannot hear the baby swallowing sound.

②Number of feedings: If the baby is not full, mothers can check the number of feeding words to see if it is less than 8 times in 24 hours, or if there is a normal number of feedings but the baby still cries.

③ Milk status: If the baby is not full, the mother’s milk secretion will be impaired, and it will not be easy to squeeze out milk after 5 days.

④ Breastfeeding performance: If the baby is not full, mothers can feel the changes in the nipples when breastfeeding, and the nipples are in a state of congestion before and after feeding and will not become soft.
