Little girl's armpits have bad odor

For little girls, if there is an odor under their armpits, the most common reason is that the children do not pay attention to personal hygiene and the parents do not pay attention to this aspect either. This may result in the sweat not being cleaned in time, which will produce an odor. Of course, this situation may also be related to diet. If you eat too greasy food, the sweat you excrete will have a stronger odor. In addition, genetic reasons may also lead to such manifestations.

Diet: Diet is also an important factor affecting underarm odor. Research shows that two people of the same age have roughly the same degree of axillary odor. One person changes his eating habits as instructed by the doctor, while the other does not make any changes. The degree of axillary odor of the two will gradually become different. The patient whose eating habits have improved will have their axillary odor symptoms gradually alleviated, while the other patient's will have their axillary odor symptoms gradually worsened. This shows that diet is also a decisive factor for axillary odor.

Period: Many patients are generally young and middle-aged people, usually between 12-45 years old. Most patients will find that the symptoms of axillary odor gradually decrease with age, and basically disappear after about 50 years old. Experts say that this is because during puberty, as the body matures, the metabolism becomes more active, so axillary odor is naturally more severe. As age increases, the body's functions decline, the metabolism gradually weakens, and axillary odor will naturally be alleviated.

Genetics: Most patients with axillary odor have a family history of the disease. Studies have found that more than 60% of patients with axillary odor have a clear genetic tendency to the disease. In addition, more people with axillary odor are white, black, and brown, while fewer are among the yellow race. Therefore, axillary odor is considered a disease only among the yellow race.

Treatment of underarm odor in children

1. Psychological intervention

Apart from washing and changing clothes frequently and keeping your armpits dry, no special treatment is required. Therefore, I personally think that psychological intervention is more important than the treatment of children's axillary odor symptoms. What parents should do at this time is to repeatedly guide and tell their children that this is a very natural and common phenomenon. Parents should never complain to each other in front of their children, or even show disgust and anxiety in front of their children. Overly extensive or indulgent intervention methods are very common in China, but they are harmful rather than beneficial to children's physical and mental health. When a child has an odor, the correct way to intervene is to provide correct treatment (such as scrubbing, cleaning and disinfection) and appropriate guidance and care.

2. Drug treatment

For children with obvious odor, most of them can achieve better treatment results through the use of some antiperspirants or fungicides. However, long-term use of topical medications with antiperspirant and bactericidal effects will inevitably cause irritation to the skin, leading to dryness, dandruff, lack of elasticity and pigmentation of the underarm skin. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid long-term continuous use except in public places where sweating is easy, and to choose milder topical medications as much as possible. Generally speaking, the bactericidal effect is obvious, and the drugs with longer medication intervals will be more irritating to the skin, but the effect will be better. Daily-use antiperspirants are relatively mild, and of course the effect is correspondingly worse.

3. Injection therapy

Studies have shown that botulinum toxin injections are indeed very effective in treating underarm odor. It controls odor by inhibiting the secretion of apocrine sweat glands. Generally, a single injection can suppress underarm sweat gland secretion for 4-6 months. Current clinical evidence does not show obvious toxic side effects. However, since repeated injections are required, it is not recommended for children who are too young. The best age for injection is 12 years old or older. Injection therapy has gradually become an ideal transitional therapy before surgery because of its small trauma, quick recovery, and no impact on subsequent treatments.

4. Minimally invasive treatment

Is it a wise choice to choose a minimally invasive treatment at this age, a treatment that is destined to relapse? At first I was against it. However, seeing that many children and adolescent patients have their lives, social interactions and studies greatly affected by severe odor, and that botulinum toxin injections are not yet popular and are very expensive, I have gradually begun to accept this compromise option. That is, with less trauma, the patient's odor can be greatly reduced, and the axillary odor can be cured through surgery when the patient reaches the age for radical surgery. However, in China, the options for minimally invasive treatments are so wide, with a wide variety of methods and types. Parents must choose carefully to avoid causing trouble for subsequent treatments.
