Why is my child's hair hard?

Why is my child's hair hard?

Nowadays, most young people are very particular about fashion, especially after they have babies, they often dress their babies beautifully and fashionably. When their children are born, many mothers think about how to dress their children and what kind of hairstyle to give them. However, some parents find that as their children grow older, their hair becomes very hard. What is going on?

What's wrong with my child's hard hair?

The quantity, shape and quality of a baby's hair mainly depends on genetic factors, and secondly on whether the mother consumes enough protein and vitamins during pregnancy. If a baby is well-nourished in the embryo and is born full-term and naturally, the baby's hair will generally have clear texture at birth and be softer than an adult's, like fine threads. If the baby is malnourished in the embryo or is born prematurely, the hair will be thinner and look like cotton. Some hair may even fall out gradually within a month after birth and new hair will grow. In addition, the amount of hair varies greatly among newborns. Some have almost no hair, while others have thick, black hair. However, these cannot determine the characteristics of the child's hair in the future. Generally speaking, a child's hair will gradually grow well around the age of one, and will become naturally full around the age of two. Of course, not all children’s hair is the same; some may be better, some may be worse, some may be denser, and some may be thinner. Most of the time, this is normal and parents don’t need to worry too much.

Why does my baby's hair keep growing upright?

Hard hair

Some babies' hair grows vertically because the hair is relatively hard. If it is a boy, it is usually fine to keep his hair short. If it is a girl, there is no problem with keeping her hair long. As long as the baby is healthy and has nothing missing, you don't need to pay special attention to the hardness of the hair growing vertically.

Zinc deficiency

Zinc deficiency can cause hair to grow upright and make it dry and yellow. Therefore, it is necessary to supplement zinc appropriately according to the baby's own situation, especially in spring.

Calcium deficiency

Babies whose hair grows upright often have bald spots on the back of their foreheads or the hair on both sides of their foreheads grows slower than other places. This is actually a symptom of calcium deficiency.

Malnutrition

Malnutrition will not only cause hair to grow upright, but also cause dry hair, sallow complexion, weak resistance and frequent illness of children, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen nutrition and pay attention to feeding children meat, eggs, milk, fruits and vegetables every day.

Parental inheritance

If everything else is normal, then it is probably genetic. One of your parents also had vertical hair when they were young. This gene is really amazing.

Some babies with long standing hair will get better when their hair grows longer.

It is indeed not very beautiful for a baby's hair to grow upright, especially the one on the top of the head. However, if the baby is healthy, can eat, sleep and play, is in good spirits and has sufficient trace elements, parents do not need to worry and can just let the hair grow or wait until the child is older.
