Child's limbs cramps

Child's limbs cramps

Parents must pay attention to supplementing their children with calcium when they are young because calcium is particularly important for babies. If children lack calcium during their growth, they may easily develop rickets or some orthopedic diseases. Moreover, for babies, if they often have cramps when they are young, it will also affect their physical health when they grow up. So what should we do if children have cramps in their limbs when they are nervous?

1 Sleep myoclonus

Children's sleep twitching may be a normal part of the sleep process, called sleep myoclonus. Its main manifestation is slight twitching of fingers or toes, or rapid shaking of lower limbs or even the whole body during light sleep, but this does not affect sleep.

If your child has convulsions while sleeping at night, it is possible that the condition is caused by other reasons and you should seek medical attention and treatment promptly.

Calcium deficiency

Children may twitch while sleeping due to calcium deficiency. Calcium can promote normal bone development and regulate the normal function and excitability of nerves and muscles. If it is deficient, symptoms such as excessive sweating, easy fright, restless sleep, and hair loss may occur.

Eat more calcium-containing foods, such as beans and bean products, milk, fish, shrimp, kelp, seaweed, eggs, etc. In particular, beans and milk are rich in calcium and are high-quality sources of calcium. They should be consumed daily.

3. Epilepsy

Seizures in children's sleep may be a sign of epilepsy, which can occur in children of all ages. The incidence of epilepsy in children is higher than that in adults, and the incidence decreases with age.

When a child has a fever, he or she should seek medical attention promptly to avoid high fever convulsions and damage to brain tissue. Children should also be taken good care of to prevent head injuries.

4. Muscle tension

Children may twitch while sleeping due to muscle tension. The muscles may be tense due to exercise or some other reason before going to bed. After falling asleep, the muscles begin to relax, which can also cause convulsions.

Paying attention to rest, combining work and rest, living an orderly life, and maintaining an optimistic, positive and upward attitude towards life will greatly help prevent disease.

5 Things to note when children sleep

1. The environment should not be too quiet

Children will fall asleep against the backdrop of natural "family noise" and parents don't have to tiptoe around the room or make any noise. Otherwise, the child is likely to develop bad sleeping habits and can only fall asleep in an artificially and deliberately "extremely" quiet environment, which is hard to find in reality.

2. The quilt should not be too thick

In order to make children sleep warmly in the cold winter, many people cover them with thick quilts. However, few people know that quilts that are too thick are often too heavy and may even cause breathing difficulties. Moreover, the excessively high temperature in the quilt will make the child irritable and even cry, which will also affect his or her sleep quality.

3. Don’t sleep too long during the day

Studies have confirmed that children who do not get enough sleep at night and are sleepy during the day not only grow and develop more slowly, but also have relatively poor attention, memory, creativity and motor skills. In addition, lack of sleep at night will disrupt the normal secretion of growth hormone, causing damage to the immune system, endocrine disorders, metabolic problems, and easy weight gain.

4. Don’t sleep too late

The reason why children go to bed too late is largely because their parents go to bed late. Studies have also shown that in terms of behavioral problems, children who go to bed late at night are more likely to be aggressive, and may also have symptoms such as ADHD, poor self-control, lack of concentration, and emotional instability.
