Kids' blocked nose remedies

We all understand the love that parents have for their children. Especially when a child is sick, the parents are the ones who most want to be sick for their child. Many children are fine during the day, but they feel nasal congestion when they go to bed at night, which makes some parents anxious. In recent years, many parents have mentioned the disease of nasal congestion in children. However, nowadays infectious diseases can be said to be diverse. How can parents protect their babies from nasal congestion? Let us learn about it below.

The breathing difficulties caused by nasal congestion in infants not only cause them to sleep poorly and cry, but also make it difficult for them to feed, resulting in poor appetite. At this time, the mother can apply a hot towel to the nose, or use a cotton swab dipped in baby oil to gently wipe away the booger and snot. The snot absorber sold on the market can also be used.

When it is cold in winter and you use electric heater to keep warm, be careful of the air being too hot and dry, as it will make the baby's nose uncomfortable. You can hang two freshly washed clothes or wet towels in the room to dry them, and the air will not be too dry.

What should I do if my baby has severe nasal congestion?

When the baby has severe nasal congestion, doctors sometimes recommend that the baby inhale some humid steam. The baby can use the steam from the hot water in the bathroom, or use the steam from the facial steamer that the mother uses for beauty treatments. After inhaling for three to five minutes, the baby can clear the nose. This method of relieving the discomfort of nasal congestion is much better than simply applying a hot towel to the nose, and it can also have a expectorant effect.

Generally speaking, the nasal tubes of infants and young children are fragile and narrow, and they are very uncooperative during treatment. The rubber tube used for suctioning the nose is as thick as 0.35 cm. When the suction force is strong, it is easy to injure the mucosa and draw blood, making the mucosa more red and swollen, and may also increase the chance of infection. Therefore, it is not recommended to use suction to treat nasal congestion in babies.

Use of nasal drops

Clinically, if the degree of nasal congestion seriously affects the sleep or appetite of infants, you can ask the pediatrician to prescribe a bottle of nasal drops containing a mild vasoconstrictor ingredient. Apply the drops to the baby's nose 15 to 20 minutes before bedtime or feeding to help. However, do not use it for more than four to five days. Oral antihistamines and pseudoephedrine medications may also help.

1. If it is snot, you can use a nasal aspirator; if it is dry nasal mucus, you can buy a small plastic clip with a small round head for clipping nasal mucus. Wait until the baby falls asleep to clip it, and the action should be quick and gentle.

2. Use absorbent cotton to rub into a cotton strip the same size as the baby's nostrils. Soak it in water and put it into the baby's nostrils to moisten the booger. After taking it out, use a dry cotton strip to stick out the booger.

3. Put a drop of cod liver oil or saline solution in each nostril. This will soften the nasal mucus, and after a while the child will sneeze out the nasal mucus.
