The child has a fever and convulsions and his lips turn purple

Symptoms such as fever and convulsions in children are relatively common, sometimes accompanied by purple lips. This is mainly a symptom caused by ischemia and hypoxia. Most of the fever and convulsions in children are caused by upper respiratory tract infections, mainly tonsillitis. Since acute infection starts quickly and the body temperature rises rapidly, this symptom is easy to occur. When a child shows this symptom, parents should take correct measures to deal with it.

1. Let’s first look at the causes of convulsions: children’s brains are not fully developed, and their ability to discern external stimuli is limited. When their body temperature is high, it is easy for the neurons in the brain to "misjudge", thus causing convulsions.

2. Once symptoms of convulsions occur, parents should not take their children to the hospital immediately. This is mainly because if they take their children to the hospital, queuing, registration, etc. will delay the treatment opportunity for a long time. Instead, you should first take some emergency measures and wait until the child's symptoms are relieved before going.

3. The first thing is to adjust the child's posture immediately. Let the child lie on his side or sideways, not on his back. Do not give the child medicine at this time to prevent suffocation. At the same time, you should unbutton the child's shirt to allow the child to breathe more smoothly.

4. Another method is to wrap small chopsticks or a tongue depressor with a soft cloth and place it between the child's teeth to prevent the child from biting his or her tongue. You should also wipe the saliva from your child's mouth and nose in time. Also, keep the surrounding environment quiet and do not move the child at will.

5. Then use your fingers to press the child's Ren Zhong, Hegu and Neiguan acupoints for about three minutes. At the same time, use warm water to physically cool the child down. After waiting for three or four minutes, until the convulsion symptoms are relieved or consciousness is restored, go to the hospital for examination and treatment.

This kind of convulsion in children caused by fever is mostly seen in children with poor physical constitution, so it is recommended that parents must lead their children to exercise and strengthen their physical fitness. During the spring and autumn seasons, pay attention to adding or removing clothes to prevent colds and fevers.
