When many parents notice that their children’s eyesight has deteriorated, the first thing they think of is whether they have myopia. In fact, children with poor eyesight may also have amblyopia. The earlier amblyopia is discovered and the younger the age of treatment, the better the effect. If not treated promptly, it may develop into low vision or blindness. So how should amblyopia in children be treated? 1. Eliminate inhibitions. Strabismus and amblyopia mainly occur during the period of visual development, greatly inhibiting the formation of visual function. Therefore, the basic task of treatment is to eliminate inhibition. Patching therapy is performed on the basis of solving refractive errors. Its principle is to cover the healthy eye to force the use of the affected eye, eliminate monocular suppression, diplopia and confusion, and promote the recovery of visual function. 2. Improve eyesight. Improving visual acuity is the fundamental purpose of strabismus and amblyopia treatment. Fine vision training can effectively promote the patient's visual development and achieve the effect of improving vision. Fine vision training includes needle threading, tracing and drawing, bead threading, etc. Patients can choose according to their own situation. 3. Correct eye position. Correcting eye position is an important measure to eliminate diplopia in patients with strabismus and amblyopia and to prevent monocular suppression and amblyopia. For eye position correction, appropriate methods should be selected according to their nature in order to create conditions for restoring binocular single vision and enable binocular vision to develop normally. After eye position correction, visual function training should continue and changes in vision and eye position should be closely monitored. 4. Integration function. Seeing their children's vision return to normal, many parents believe that there is no need to treat strabismus and amblyopia anymore. In fact, this is wrong. Most children with strabismus and amblyopia not only lack the ability to see objects with both eyes at the same time, but also have defects in fusion function and stereoscopic vision. After the vision of the amblyopic eye returns to normal, amblyopia training must continue to establish fusion function, restore stereoscopic vision, and ultimately obtain normal stereoscopic vision. If you find that your child has poor eyesight and you cannot tell whether it is amblyopia or myopia, it is best to take him to a professional ophthalmology hospital for examination. After amblyopia is confirmed, follow the doctor's instructions for treatment to avoid missing the best time for treatment. Treatment of amblyopia also requires more intake of foods containing vitamins and minerals. Eat more vegetables and fruits, and increase protein intake appropriately. |
