Arteriovenous malformation of the great cerebral vein refers to a venous fistula between the posterior cerebral artery or the superior cerebellar artery and the great cerebral vein, which allows arterial blood to flow directly into venous blood.

This results in a series of symptoms. Most of the large venous malformations in the cerebral hemispheres are located under the cerebral cortex, and the areas where they occur are mostly supplied by the middle cerebral artery. Under the influence of intravascular pressure, the deformed part gradually expands, eventually compressing the nearby brain tissue, leading to brain atrophy and easily causing bleeding.
