Causes and treatments for children with fever at night but no fever during the day

Some parents may have this problem: their children are fine during the day, but start to have a fever at night. In fact, there are certain signs when a child has a fever during the day, but parents just don’t pay attention. Parents should not panic when their children have a fever at night, but should provide timely treatment for their children.

The child may have a fever in the morning or in the middle of the night, but as long as you observe carefully, you will find that there will be certain signs during the day or at least in the afternoon. As the saying goes, children will not pretend to be sick. As long as there is nothing serious, the child will appear very lively. This is easily ignored by parents, but at night, after the child falls asleep, the body temperature will rise under the quilt. According to doctors' statistics, high fever accounts for about 80% of children's nighttime emergencies, and colds are the most common disease causing fever. The child has a fever, which makes the parents very anxious. In fact, as long as you master the correct care methods, it is not a problem to reduce your child's fever in a short period of time.

For children who suddenly develop a high fever at night (axillary temperature ≥ 39°C), the following care measures can be taken: (1) In homes with air conditioning, the room temperature can be maintained at 21°C-24°C; let the child rest in bed, with the blanket or clothes loosened to expose the skin; (2) encourage the child to drink plenty of cool boiled water or clean liquids, at least 300 ml per night; (3) take antipyretics, such as Tylenol or Thorne oral solution in appropriate amounts, and take again every 4-6 hours if necessary, and measure the body temperature every 1-2 hours until the temperature drops to normal; (4) If the antipyretic drugs are not effective, physical cooling can also be used, such as giving the child a warm bath (water temperature 32°C-34°C) to help dissipate heat. It should be pointed out that regardless of whether the fever has subsided, parents should take their children to the hospital for treatment the next day. In addition, a family of three must always have antipyretic and cold medicines on hand.

If the child has a fever at night, parents should master the above-mentioned first aid methods. In addition, the home should always have emergency cold medicines. During the day, parents should pay attention to observe subtle physical changes in their children, and promptly discover and treat them. If the child has a high fever that does not subside, be sure to go to the hospital for treatment. I hope my suggestions are helpful to you.
