Causes of white spots on children's faces

White spots with a few bran-like scales on a child's face may be pityriasis simplex, a common skin disease in children and adolescents. Because children's skin glands are not fully developed, the skin lacks the protection of sebum, which leads to streptococcal infection, causing hypopigmented round or oval spots to appear on children's faces, necks, shoulders, arms, chests and buttocks. The general symptoms are not obvious, and a few children have mild itching symptoms. Pityriasis alba occurs in the spring and gradually subsides in the summer and autumn. No treatment is required. Children who are malnourished, lack vitamin B, are exposed to the sun and wash excessively are susceptible to this disease.

Causes of white spots on children’s faces:

1. Traumatic infection: The skin is the largest organ in the human body and is often injured by external stimuli. When the skin is frostbitten, burned, scratched or injured by surgery, inflammation occurs, which can cause the body to enter a state of high stress, affect the normal functioning of the skin, cause imbalance of Qi and blood, and cause white spots to appear on the wound.

2. Prolonged exposure to the sun

Sun exposure, especially excessive exposure to the sun, systemic diseases, etc. are also one of the causes of vitiligo. In addition, the intensification of industrial pollution and excessive personal stress are also common causes of vitiligo.

3. Human constitution

When some patients lack trace elements such as copper, zinc and iron in their bodies, the activity of tyrosinase may be reduced, affecting melanin metabolism. Therefore, the lack of certain trace elements in the body of vitiligo patients leads to melanin metabolism disorders.

Children with white spots on their faces should keep their faces clean. Do not use soaps with too strong alkaline properties. Some oily moisturizers can be used in winter. If the child feels itchy or other discomfort on the white spots on his face, apply 5% sulfuric acid ointment or hormone cream. For malnourished children, their dietary structure should be adjusted, the variety of food should be increased, and vitamins should be supplemented. If necessary, they should take B vitamins under the guidance of a doctor to alleviate the symptoms of vitiligo.
