How old can children eat?

When children are young, they need to be fed by their parents because of their limited digestive ability and lack of hands-on ability. However, as children's bodies continue to develop, they need to gradually learn to eat by themselves. Many parents know little about this and are very concerned about the timing for their children to eat independently. So, how old should a child be before he can eat? Let’s take a closer look below.

Four months: The child will use his hands to hold the bottle, but will neither pick it up nor pull it out of his mouth; he will eat pureed vegetables when his mother feeds him with a spoon.

Six months: The mother can feed the baby milk with a cup, and he can sit on his mother's lap to eat.

Seven months: The baby is able to sit in a chair and eat for the first time, which is a big achievement for both the baby and the mother. Some mothers put their children in the chair too early, but they don't sit comfortably.

Nine months: If your baby is still drinking from a bottle, he or she will be able to hold it and put it in his or her mouth and pull it out of his or her mouth when he or she is finished. You have to watch him eat at first to prevent him from eating too fast and suffocating. If he is given a biscuit, he will take it with all five fingers, chew it happily, and of course make his clothes dirty.

One year old: The child can pick up biscuits with his thumb and index finger and eat them cleanly, which makes traveling very convenient; he can take things out of his mouth, so the mother can rest assured when giving him a piece of bread; he can also distinguish between dishes and does not like to eat certain dishes.

One year and three months: The child will use his fingers to point to his favorite dishes; can hold a metal cup with two hands and try to use a spoon, but often holds it upside down.

One and a half years old: The child can eat food in chunks with a spoon and can hold a glass. Glass cups are not as easy to hold as metal cups, so he often breaks them. He also often likes to eat by himself, but gets tired after a while and needs help from adults.

One year and nine months: The child can eat all kinds of food, but gets his whole body dirty.

Two years old: The child has made great progress. Before this, children had to wear napkins when eating, but now the napkins are hardly dirty after eating. But you have to know that he may eat well one day and make his clothes very dirty the next day. In this as in other respects he had not yet completely mastered the method.

The above is an introduction about how old children should be to start eating. I hope it will be helpful to parents. Children’s diet is a big problem. Don’t spoil them just because there are few children nowadays. It is very important to cultivate children’s hands-on ability from an early age so that they can develop an independent character.
