Developmental indicators and related health care issues for premature babies

Premature babies do not develop well in their mother's body. Being born too early makes their bodies weak. Therefore, we need to pay attention to the care of premature babies and observe the baby's development. At the same time, health care is also a critical issue. We must be careful in daily care and pay attention to health care in an environment with fewer bacteria. There are clear data on the development standards of premature babies.

1. Home health care issues for premature babies: The baby's room should have plenty of sunlight and good ventilation. In winter, the indoor temperature should be as high as possible between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius, and the humidity should be between 55 and 60 percent. The immune function of premature infants is not yet mature, and they have poor resistance to various infections, so preventing infection is crucial. Therefore, parents should do a good job of daily cleaning and disinfection of the room, conduct regular general cleaning, and cooperate with appropriate lactic acid evaporation disinfection. In addition, sick people should not be allowed into the baby's room.

2. Skin care issues for premature babies: Babies have delicate skin and should be bathed every day to keep the skin clean in order to reduce bacterial accumulation. Before bathing, you need to make preparations (prepare clothes to be changed, toiletries, and adjust the water temperature, etc.). During the bathing process, you need to pay attention to keeping warm and move quickly. When the umbilical stump has not healed, you need to take care to protect the baby's navel to prevent sewage from entering and causing infection. After bathing, you should quickly dry your baby's body with a warm and dry towel and put clothes on him in time. After each bowel movement, the baby's buttocks should be cleaned with warm water to avoid the "red buttocks" phenomenon.

3. Weight standard for premature babies: Most premature babies have a birth weight below 2,500g and a head circumference below 33cm. A small number of premature infants weigh more than 2,500g and their organ function and adaptability are worse than those of full-term infants. They should still be given special care. Any baby whose birth weight is reduced to below the 10th percentile of normal weight for gestational age or two standard deviations below the mean due to factors such as placental insufficiency is called a small for gestational age baby (small for gestational age, poorly mature baby). Babies with a birth weight of less than 2,500g are collectively referred to as low-weight babies, and those with a birth weight of less than 1,500g are referred to as very low-weight babies, including premature babies and those who are small for gestational age.

Premature babies are weak and are not well protected in their mother's belly. The most obvious change is in their baby's weight standard. Parents can pay attention to their child's weight and pay more attention to their child's skin care and other aspects of the body. Premature babies are more fragile than other babies, so reasonable care is necessary.
