Causes of puffy eyelids in children

Swollen eyelids are a symptom that we are all very familiar with. Although this symptom will not threaten our lives, it will affect our image and also bring us great psychological pressure. Therefore, we must pay attention to this symptom. Some children are prone to swollen eyelids, so what exactly causes children to have swollen eyelids? Let’s take a look at the analysis below.

When you wake up every morning, you will have slight eyelid swelling, which is usually caused by the accumulation of body fluids in the eyes during sleep. It will usually disappear automatically around 10 o'clock in the morning, that is, the accumulated fluid will be discharged after you move a little.

There are also some diseases that can cause puffy eyelids:

(1) Allergic reactions caused by food, snails, pollen, etc. Sometimes even allergic skin rashes in other parts of the face can affect the eyelids. If the allergic symptoms are not treated well, the temporary swelling caused by it may become permanent, because each eyelid swelling caused by an allergic reaction will aggravate the damage to your tissue fibers. The more swelling and allergic symptoms there are, the more swollen or loose the eyelids will become.

(2) People with sensitive skin may develop eyelid dermatitis due to skin rashes irritating the eyelids. Normal eyelids may also be caused by your hands touching something that you are allergic to and then your hands touch your eyelids, such as formaldehyde;

(3) Inflammation of the sebaceous glands on the eyelids and eyelashes can also cause eye swelling. This infection can cause eyelashes to fall out. If you use cosmetics for a long time and fail to completely remove the residue of eye makeup every time, or are not careful when removing eye makeup, it will block the sebaceous gland ducts on the eyelids and cause blepharitis.

Prescription: It is important to go to the doctor to find out the cause. If it is caused by allergies, the use of anti-allergic drugs can effectively control the condition and prevent recurrence. Avoid contact with and consumption of substances that may cause allergies. If allergies are caused by the use of cosmetics or skin care products, stop using them resolutely and decisively.

Oily moisturizing creams can not only cause allergies, but also block the sebaceous glands around the eyelids, causing eye inflammation. It is best to avoid the area around the eyes when using this product, or after applying it, gently wipe the area around the eyes with a cotton swab dipped in saline solution.

To treat eyelid dermatitis, doctors will use a hormone ointment, but it must be used under the guidance of a doctor and must not be purchased on your own, because this type of drug can irritate the eyes. If applied for too long, it can also cause serious eye diseases such as glaucoma and cataracts. Blepharitis should be treated with hot compresses or eye cleaners, and in severe cases, antibiotic ointment should be used.

Swollen eyelids have nothing to do with age. As long as you eliminate the cause of the swelling, you can definitely eliminate eyelid puffiness and make you look younger.

In the above article, we introduced a common symptom, which is swollen eyelids. We know that the occurrence of swollen eyelids will cause great trouble to patients, so we need to pay attention to this symptom. The above article introduces in detail the reasons for children's swollen eyelids.
