Child's neck twitching

Child's neck twitching

When children are young, the phenomenon of convulsions caused by crying is very serious. Many children fall asleep after crying, which is particularly prone to epilepsy, which will have a serious impact on the child's life. Therefore, if a child has neck convulsions, parents must go to the hospital in time to help the child with treatment. So how to treat children's neck convulsions?

It is difficult to make a clear diagnosis. I suggest you see a pediatric psychiatrist. It may be Tourette syndrome in children. Tourette syndrome in children is a relatively common movement disorder. It is estimated that 15% of children will have this problem at some stage. Clinically known as "tic disorder", it begins in children and adolescents, with a higher incidence in males. Main manifestations: involuntary, repetitive, rapid muscle twitching and vocal twitching in one or more parts, which may be accompanied by inattention, hyperactivity, obsessive-compulsive thinking and other behavioral symptoms.

Regardless of the form of tic disorder, there are mainly two types of tics, namely motor tics and articulatory tics. However, according to the duration and type of the tic, it can be divided into: transient tic disorder, chronic tic disorder and Tourette syndrome. The clinical characteristics are sudden, rapid, involuntary and repetitive twitching involving multiple muscle groups. At the beginning of the disease, the tic symptoms often start from the face, such as nodding, blinking, grimacing, pursing the lips, opening the mouth, shaking the head, stretching the neck, raising the eyebrows, etc., and then the tic symptoms gradually worsen and develop to the neck, shoulders, upper limbs, trunk and lower limbs, forming tics in multiple parts of the body.

As time goes by, various complex and strange motor tics appear, manifested as shrugging, arm swinging, arm raising, fist clenching, finger stretching, and impulsive touching of things or others. Some children also startle, swing their limbs, clap, kick, squat, bend over, walk and spin, and cannot control themselves; some children often make abnormal sounds in their throats involuntarily, like clearing the throat or dry coughing, or make unsyllable shouts; some children repeatedly utter words without clear meaning, and also make roars similar to those of certain animals. Some children, when ticking, will repeat monotonous and stereotyped obscenities or nag involuntarily, or spit, and sometimes they cannot control themselves from swearing or using foul language. These children tend to be impatient and often quickly poke at paper with their pens. They often have sleep disorders such as difficulty falling asleep, waking up easily or having night terrors.
