What should I do if the fetus has a cyst in the abdomen?

When a pregnant woman goes to the hospital for an ultrasound examination, she will find a small round fluid area in her lower abdomen, which is about 1 cm by 1.3 cm to 1.5 cm in size. When the pregnancy is 3 months, the fetus is still relatively small, and many organs are not fully developed. It is currently difficult to say what kind of disease this is? However, it can be accurately stated that this is an abdominal cyst, so how should it be treated?

(1) Early diagnosis of chromosomal diseases and congenital malformations in fetuses. Indications for early prenatal diagnosis include: 1. Pregnant woman aged 35 years or over, or husband aged 45 years or over; 2. The couple has chromosomal abnormalities or has given birth to a child with chromosomal abnormalities; 3. Close relatives with congenital idiocy or other chromosomal diseases; 4. Family history of sex-linked genetic diseases, or having given birth to a child with a sex-linked genetic disease; 5. Those with recurrent miscarriages, stillbirths, or fetal death; 6. Close relatives marrying; 7. Those who have given birth to children with neural tube defects, metabolic abnormalities, and blood diseases. For suspicious cases, chorionic villus culture or amniotic fluid culture can be performed for chromosome examination. And B-ultrasound prenatal diagnosis.

(B) Early diagnosis of fetal intrauterine infection. Do tests for rubella virus, cytomegalovirus and toxoplasmosis infection. If the results are positive, pay attention to whether the fetus has intrauterine growth retardation.

(3) Strengthen the prevention and treatment of complications and comorbidities during pregnancy, especially pregnancy-induced hypertension, heart disease, and liver and kidney diseases.

(IV) Improve nutrition and avoid picky eating habits. Eat more foods rich in protein and vitamins, and pay special attention to supplementing folic acid and amino acids.

(V) Supplement trace elements as appropriate. Studies have found that zinc levels in pregnant women decrease with gestational age. Zinc deficiency can cause a high incidence of iron deficiency anemia in pregnant women; copper deficiency in pregnant women can also cause fetal growth retardation; therefore, iodine can easily cause cretinism.

Generally, pregnant women will undergo 3D color ultrasound examinations between the 21st and 27th weeks of pregnancy, which can effectively rule out malformations of large organs. Abnormalities in the fetus are basically unsolvable in our medicine at present, and can only be treated through induction of labor.
