How does acrodermatitis develop in children?

If a child suddenly develops redness and swelling on his body, parents may not pay much attention to it at this time. However, if the child's redness and swelling gradually worsens, and the itchiness becomes more and more severe, it means that the child's acrodermatitis is becoming more serious. So what symptoms will children's acrodermatitis show? The editor has summarized the causes of acrodermatitis for everyone.

1. The disease usually occurs within 1 year of age, most of which occur after weaning. There is often a family history and it is unrelated to gender, race or season.

2. Rash Various rashes appear. The rash begins as papules and quickly merges into bullae filled with serous fluid and surrounded by a red halo. When there is secondary infection, the rash may appear pustular. After the blisters rupture, they become flaky erosions with red wound surfaces, lichenoid or psoriasis-like plaques, and brown dry scales or scabs. This type of rash appears in batches, lasts for a long time, and disappears without leaving scars. The rash often occurs in the junction area of the skin and mucous membranes, and symmetrical lesions may also appear on the limbs, especially on the extremities. It is especially severe and often affects the nails, causing them to deform, atrophy, or even loss of the nails.

3. Mucosal inflammation may include stomatitis, glossitis, rhinitis, blepharitis, conjunctivitis, keratitis and vulvitis.

4. The hair becomes dry and falls out, causing partial or complete baldness, and even involving eyebrows and eyelashes.

5. Diarrhea The vast majority of cases have varying degrees of diarrhea, with watery stools containing foam or mucus, which is believed to be caused by secondary lactose intolerance.

6. Malnutrition, excessive crying, excessive sleeping, and stagnation of growth and development are caused by prolonged course of the disease, intermittent improvement and worsening of the condition. The diagnosis is mainly based on clinical manifestations, significantly reduced blood zinc levels, and significant therapeutic effects after treatment with zinc preparations.

These are the reasons why acrodermatitis occurs in children. When children have acrodermatitis, they not only need timely medication treatment, but also need to pay attention to the child’s daily life. If children are often fed irritating foods, it can easily cause more severe acrodermatitis in children.
